I own a tire store and as soon as I take delivery I will be taking off the Goodyears and putting on a set of Michilens. I can't stand the look of the Goodyears (the bead protector) they make the wheel look wider than the shoulder of the tire. I'm putting on 295/35 on frt and 315/35 on rear, Michilen Super Sports. There is only 4mm difference in sidewall height. It will look more sinister and I'll bet anything it will ride better. The new Super Sports are supposed to have as good of traction as the PS2's, but last longer. I'm saving the Goodyears for track days.

I like this idea. Traction is very important as related to the ZL1. I'm on my second set of rear Pirelli's for my SS since Jan. 2010, and may need another set in a couple months. My fronts are fine. My SS is also daily driven. Trying to find tires with performance and good mileage is hard to do.

The Goodyear F1's that are currently on the car will be lucky to last a year, and at $2000 a set I could buy 2 sets of Nittos for the same price as 1 set of Goodyears.

This sounds like what I need. Any discounts for camaro5 members? I'd be interested in getting some and having them shipped down to GA.

I believe they just changed the thread pattern for the ZL1, but the F1 G2's have been out for quite awhile on different cars.

Hmmm would they be that much different than a bike tire? I have Michelin Pilots on my bike,I have literally cut them with my finger nail, they are so soft. I Drive my bike in fall up here in Canada and as long as you don't hammer the throttle when tires are cold they are fine, once they warm up a bit.

I've thought about it, and I don't know if I want to suck the performance out of it like that...
Well, 90% of the time, you You know, even the street/strip guys carry slicks in their trunk for track day. My "appropriations manager" is going to question when I need $2000 to replace tires in one year or so for the sheer joy of "touring" ..... I'm sure we all will be having fun no matter what the heck we ride on. Damn this is getting exciting. You know, I see your point about this MONSTER car. It IS going to take some tremendous "getting used to" just to keep things from crossing the line.

Did you see the new "outdoor" and "indoor" ZL1 Car Covers available at:

Oh, FAREWELL to ANDY ROONEY!! God Bless him.

Take those GY's off on day one and spend some money for real tire's; those GY's are real garbage. Had them on my 2010 GS,wore out in 10K miles and sounded horrible on the road. I will never buy a Goodyear tire again; expensive and under preforming.

i have the Invos on my car now & they're much better than the stock Goodyears. they're quieter & grip better. my only complaint so far is that they don't make the sizes i wanted.
i've got the same power as a ZL1 & weigh about 600lb less, and don't have much problem getting on it. consider these are non-runflats, though, so that accounts for a bit of the difference in feel.

No,we are not. I replace tires when they start to lose grip, regardless of tread depth, & have yet to get more than 4k miles out of a set of the OEM GY's. I've tried most every performance tire available & always go back to the Michelin PS2's.

And to address the OP's concern......no Max Performance tire is good below ~50 degrees. Nature of the beast.
