So far they're doing ok in that sense, and their street cars (Camaro, Corvette) and their trucks are doing quite ok compared to their OHC competition. So until Ford, Chrysler and other manufacturers make such a badass DOHC engine that even a high tech pushrod engine cannot come close to competing with in terms of power and efficiency, GM will stick with the pushrod engine (at least for the high powered cars).

Then there is always turbocharging which would greatly help a lower tech pushrod engine keep up with DOHC engines in those terms.

And I don't see anyone making a DOHC engine that powerful and efficient that even a turbocharged LS engine cannot compete with anytime soon. Pushrods engines are not going away anytime soon, especially if they greatly help the bottom line of GM due to how cheap they are to make. GM would have to be doing really bad vs. the competition for them to throw away a design that they have been working with for 60 years and completely rehaul everything.
