Okay, let's say you're looking for a car. It's the start of a brand-new model year so incentives are low. You figure you'll wait a while to buy one so you can take advantage of model year end incentives.

When model year end rolls around, the next model year offers an updated or altered features. Now you're left choosing between a cheaper, but now outdated car, or the newest, most recent car on the lot.

It all comes down to your priorities.

It's not a matter of "giving customers a better deal," the better deal should already have been reflected in the initial pricing by offering a better product than your competitors for around the same price. If you have to offer incentives to move product then consumers obviously found a better value elsewhere.

You're fighting a losing battle on this. Ask anybody in the industry and they'll tell you that high incentives = problems.
yep. when I bought my altima in 2007 (first year of current generation) I pretty much paid MSRP. it had only been in production for 4 months, was selling as fast as they could get them, and the dealership knew if I didn't buy it someone else would. they didn't have to deal, and they didn't. and the only incentive they were offering was $500 off for college student's.

I'm not disagreeing with you at all...just saying that the incentive might make the difference as to whether or not they even buy a car...I'm sure most people don't think of the reasons you stated...and true if you want new and not soon to be outdated...but psychologically, with no "incentive" some might feel they are not gonna "overpay" when the cost could be less....

I wonder what the sale of the ZL1s (after delivery) will do to regular Camaro sales? The SS will no longer be top dog. Do you think ZL1 sales will diminish the sale of regular Camaros?

I like the new wheel and the new paddles (automatic cars obviously).

Actually the Camaro is up vs the same month last year.

I absolutely hated the revised 2012 interior with a passion!! Until i bought my 2012 it just looks much nicer now and the paddles too. I was siting in my 2011 a few days before taking a look around the interior and could just see how it will have an older and outdated look in a few years

I did my part. Although GM (Chevy) made it an easy decision for me. On Feb 29th I purchased a '12 Summit White 2SS/RS w/ IOM interior.

List was $39,500.00, my cost was $38,000.00 before incentives. Now for incentives, I had $2005.00 in GM Card points and a $500 GM loyalty rebate, not to mention 2.9% financing through GM.

So after my trade I bascially picked up the new loaded Camaro SS for roughly $23,895.00 after taxes and fees. (Had a tax credit with the dealer on a previous trade, and on the Honda I just traded in, so I basically had even more taken off the top)

Can't beat that!

You guys, it's very obvious why mustang sold more than camaro for the month of February. It's called Valentine's Day, and all the Mustangs were bought for the ladies in the relationship.
