I think the LS3 cars will be about even or a little faster, the Zl1 should beat out the LS2 cars
LS3 (base model Vette) bone stock 1/4 is 11.7 currently LS7 (Z06) bone stock 1/4 is 10.9 currently

the ZL1 was designed to meet the same performance numbers as the vette grand sport , which has the same hp as a regular vette but handles better and has better brakes

the ZL1 should be close to the base LS3 Vette which has been in production since 2008, the Grand Sports seem slightly slower for some reason (quite a bit of debate about this on the corvette forum), the ZL1 might get into Z06 territory with a pulley swap , a better intercooler, better tires and a tune...............

Thats a great way to put that!
So $ weighted, the quickest car per $ spent is probably the C6. I like my camaro though...even though its slower than a 5.0 stang (Yuk!)... its easier to drive around town than the vette......but for the track, its vette city! |

Car and driver did a comparison between the GS and ZL1 and it was pretty dead even. On a track the ZL1 will beat a base vette ...check ring or VIR times and see for yourself.

No offence..but no way will a bone stock Z06 run 10.9...if someone pulled that time they must have been one hell of a driver and conditions must have been perfect....ZR1 maybe. Z06 is a mid to high 11's car...that's with a drag radial and a good driver....your average Joe isn't going to run those times...someone who spends alot of time at a drag strip and knows how to lauch those cars might.

I am still curious if the '13 GT500 is going to be as fast/faster than the ZL1 around a track. Still doubting it, but I suppose we'll see! Having been around the GS, it is a very manageable track car and very nimble. I have no doubts that the ZL1 is close to or equal to it, which, having ridden around a track in an SS also at its limit, is saying something. As to whether the Mustang camp got it right, time will tell.

About the base LS3 Vette running a 11.7, I understand there was some controversy about that time. Supposedly he tuned the car, then removed the tune.
Frankly I think I would say that the best time for a pure bone stock LS3, without anything controversial about it would be right at 11.8. I know mine hit 12.15 with very few miles on it, and it was totally bone stock. http://forums.corvetteforum.com/1568589584-post1.html
