help for pre orders and others. Why you might not have car
was told by dealer that the painted engine covers are delayed 4 weeks, so if your waiting could be because of this.

dealer showed me the 28th contraint report the wing was more than 4 weeks out because its still in engineering and the cover is due to supplier shortage or something. So chances are they are contracting these out for paint.

Right but that's only the optional body color model. If you have this on your order, take it off so your order isn't delayed. Then once it becomes available, just have your dealer order it and stick it on. It's probably the easiest install around.

thats what i meant. I edited my post to reflect that. yeah its the paint contract that is constrained 4 weeks not the cover its self. I wouldnt get that anyways. I mean you never see it, and if you want it really bad DIY

Hum it's just a cover lol.
That could of been dealer installed. Also I did notice a lot of the covers where crooked. Where it aligns with the air intake. This seems to be more on the v6 covers. |

its such a small area to paint and Gm probably did the cost analysis and contracting it out at the plant was cheaper than setting up the line pr paying dealers to do it. Dealers dont always have body shops.

Painted engine cover option.
If it is on the order does it just come in the trunk and the dealer install it. If so I have one that was ordered at the dealer and is here so I wonder if there is a way to just have them ship my car that is already built and have the dealer just use that one? |

Funny thing about the engine cover is is that its just a peice of plastic that probably cost about 20 bucks, and your paying 470 bucks to paint about 15% of it, and you will never see it.
