Borla exhaust MISTAKE question!!!! Please ADVISED!
Hey guys, I purchased my Borla exhaust exactly a year ago for my 2011 L99. I bought it online and just found out that I put the touring Borla exhaust(thinking that i had ordered the S-type). When I went to the shop to get the new exhaust it was too quiet, now I know why...so I added an X-pipe to make it louder. Now that I know about my mistake, what do you guys recommend? is there a way that I can trade it? or just save up for some headers? PLEASE ADVISED ME. I was 20 yrs old and 21 right now! such a noob help!!!

Put it in the For Sale section and see if anyone wants to buy it outright or trade for the S-type. Maybe someone is ready for a quieter exhaust.
It would be cheaper to just buy the new exhaust and sell your old than to buy and install heads. |

Xedes,
that is a good idea, however I don't have any other exhaust available in the meantime. I gave away my stock ones.

The borla is an axleback? I may know where you can find a REALLY loud JBA axleback for a trade.

Wouldn't the SType on a l99 drone like mad when AFM kicks in?

I barely hear the AFM on my L99. I have no idea how bad it can get if i ever upgrade to a louder and meaner exhaust..

I liked the borla attack exhaust.. but I had it with kooks headers. My friend had it without the kooks headers and he was happy.

X3.... If you plan on headers I would just save for that, trust me it makes a HUGE difference in sound. In fact it may give you exactly the sound you are looking for.

The truth is that this is what Borla used to do with their systems back during the LT1 days when I first fell in love with their sound - I realized that the performance was from their exhaust engineering, but the real sound was from pipe cutouts. I'm running the ATAK system on my SS and I love the engineering behind it, but I'd like to get electric cutouts at some point to compliment the sound because the ATAK sounds amazing under load, but there's not much low-rev intimidation going on with it. Hope that helps solve your problem.
