that's pretty hipster. just a different kind. you don't want to be hipster, get something no one has heard of before, or a flip phone. lmao

It's simply what major business corporations do. Not that I agree with this, but it does not have much effect on us as consumers. LG has sued Sony, vice versa, and even now Samsung is suing LG over OLEDs.

Back to the iPhone 5: From what I've been reading, pre-orders start at 12am on Friday 9/14. And if you currently have the iPhone grandfathered unlimited plan, you get to keep it when upgrading to LTE.
$1B was set by the jury, but based on a number Apple started with, which was even higher. Apple lost the case everywhere in the world (and badly), except in the US. Samsung didn't try to license anything, because non of the technology in the iPhone was new, or something Apple invented. It has a significant effect on us consumers. It's $1B that Samsung has to recoup. That money will be recouped across all phones, including iPhones, since Samsung makes a lot of the iPhone parts. It also means that phone manufacturers will be hesitant to include certain technologies that they fear they may get sued over, which is another direct impact on the consumer.

The effect of Apple's victory is fairly present in the lack of innovation found in the iPhone 5. Apple seems to be resting on its laurels. It's virtually the same phone they released over 2 years ago, which was something innovative. No need for them to innovate if they can just sue the competition out of business.

Not impressed but compared to the other devices I have, I will most likely go back to it because it works with the apps I use on my MAC Book Pro and that is the only reason.

SO it's ok for others to steal ideas that have been developed and have a patent from other companies?

I don't necessarily like it but they did do all the R&D and have a right to protect it.
