I've started to look more into converting to the bigger blower, converting from the V3 to the YSI.

So, throwing it out to all the FI guys:

What setup would you prefer: Cammed and smaller blower, or the bigger blower.

1. The obvious - which is gonna make more power?
2. Vortech dudes: What is involved with the YSI conversion? Just the blower? Do i need a bigger intercooler? Piping?
3. If you go the cam route, which blower cam makes the most efficient use of boost with the V3?
4. If you go the YSI route, how much boost would you target to have a safe shortblock? (my fuel system would be ID850s and LPE twin)

Thanks for the ideas!
With a question like this your gonna get a bunch of different answers. Do your self a favor and call Jimmy over at Vortech. Hes the man to talk to and having worked with many different shops he can point you in the right direction.

I think that's the point of a technical discussion forum...

Come on guys, back on topic please. Lets try and stick to facts. A lot of things mentioned in this thread are proving inaccurate so please only comment on issues if you are sure of the setup.

All Vortech Kits are Standard with 10 Rib dedicated belt drive on the Camaro.

Wish I could say the same for the Vette Guys.

If you already have the V3, then there probably isnt a lot of point upgrading unless it isnt going to cost much. If starting afresh, IMO always buy a bigger blower than you think you need. Because you'll always want more a few months down the line !

I would recommend the cam job using (of course) our NightFury cam. it works wonders with any sc. With the added cam you also would get better valve springs and valve train to handle the increased power. making 700hp with the stock valvetrain is a risk imo.

we run the NF with lots of centri builds. takes about 12.5-12psi with the cam and headers with a paxton novi 1500 to make 730rwhp.

without a cam it will take about 13-14psi. of course, both of these combos need the correct fueling. These #'s are with the Paxton NOVI 1500

this is 11.5 psi with a centri and the NF cam

At 10.5 PSI on 93 octane the JRE rough idle blower makes 700 RWHP with the SI BLOWER

At 14 PSI on 100 octane with the YSI it makes 802 RWHP
