I would be careful with ZL1 springs. Spring rates need to be matched to the damping rate of your shocks/struts to make sure you don't kill your ride quality. With the ZL1's Magnetic Ride Control shocks there is a good chance the spring rates won't match the damping rates of the V6 non-MRC shocks/struts. I would definitely take a look at the springs that we offer. Our springs lower the Camaro by 1" all around, giving it a more aggressive stance, lower center of gravity, and better handling without compromising it usability. We designed them to work with factory damping rates so that you do not end up with a bouncy ride. We also engineered a spring that is designed specifically to work on the Convertible platform instead of just having a "1 size fits all" spring.
Though you may be only starting with springs now, if you decide to keep modifying your suspension we have all of the parts needed to take your suspension from basic to advanced. All of our products are designed and engineered to complement each other so there is no need to worry that parts won't fit or work correctly like when you mix-'n-match. Check out what Autoblog (http://www.autoblog.com/2010/03/12/h...r-than-before/) and Road and Track (http://www.hotchkis.net/_uploaded_fi...5thgen_zz1.pdf) think about our improvements to the 5th Gen Camaro.

Don't the lowering springs have different spring rates to accommodate for less travel? Basically not putting any more stress on your struts than normal?

I checked with our engineer and the suspension update happened for the 2013 model year. He said the 2012 model year is good to go.

Thanks Jordan...I appreciate the information. Thanks everyone for all the good posts. I have decided to sell the ZL1 springs and either do a different spring or coilovers. Now the search continues...

15% Off Parts and 0% for 6 Months
Your strut should not wear out quickly, but the V6 shocks are a poor match for the ZL1 coils. Look around for a set of 2012 SS or the harder to find but very good 1LE struts. Those will be a good match to your ZL1 coils. |
