Overheating
It is still in the mid 70s here in NW Florida. My ZL1 runs between 190-210 normally but if I am in traffic with the AC on it can spike up real quick and has even shut the AC down due to high heat. I am just over 1000 miles and this does not seem right. Summer time down here with tourist traffic and 100 degree heat I will be cooking the car. Any ideas??

Take it to the dealer, your air should not shut off and if it is I would take it in to be ooked at. My 2012 2SS/RS heats up during bumper to bumper traffic but my fan kicks in and cools it off. Maybe your thermostat is bad?

Take it to the dealer. Mine did the same thing and the tech said it was a software issue with the AC unit.

How hot did it get. I drove to PA this summer and it was 100+ and I was never over 210.

Check that you haven't sucked a Walmart plastic bag up in front of the radiator or stuck between the radiator and condenser core. I assume the obvious that you already checked your coolant level.

Coolant level can cause this condition because the thermostat does not function correctly.

There was a Recall for the ac to be reprogrammed on my SS, I wonder if your car is subject to this recall to. It was only applicable to some cars and not others in the same model year.

I had a problem in another vehicle that caused the fan to not kick on when sitting stopped at idle. That would also explain this issue.

The wiring harness to the cooling fans was disconnected. The dealership says that the fan does not kick on until the coolant temp hits 230 anyhow. 230 seems like an awefully high high number to hit before starting to try to cool down this engine. Even if that will not hurt it, wouldn't running that hot rob you of a mess of horse power?

There is a problem in high temp regions of the Country where the A/C cuts out. This issue has been posted many times. There is resolve to correct the problem. A software, or update can be performed on the car by the dealership that will correct this issue. It has been documented here on C5. That may have some connection to your problem, or you have a low coolant level or another issue associated with the cooling system. There's been an issue with the A/C in extremely hot areas of the Country, but not the cooling system in general.
