Tire Recommendations

I live in Colorado, and my SS is on 20"s with the summer only tires. Not a good combo. So, for those who have some knowledge of these things. what all-season and/or winter tires would you recommend, and any recommendations for a good tire chain (national?) to put them on?

cheap rims that can clear the brakes and probably LT tires for winter conditions, cuz you won't get far with rear wheel drive and all that weight in the front..

..and don't forget a 4" suspension lift..

..I get around pretty good with my FWD civic and all seasons..only high center concerns..

Thumbs up

As far as tires go, I would suggest the GOODYEAR F1 ALL SEASON.
I've driven a car A LOT with these tires on in the rain and dry pavement and they work great. (Not my car, my ex's car.) I'm not sure how good they are in the snow personally, but if you go to the GOODYEAR tire website, they should have all the info you need.
GOOD LUCK!

Yokohama PARADA Spec-X, they are All-Season, always used Yokohamas in the past for Winter driving. So until I get me some LS 18' steelies (for my 2LT), the Parada Spec-X's will have to do for my 20's for Winter.

Nice info! Maybe I will follow in your footsteps if I can't get any Heritage steelies by end of August.

Oh and have you tried them on to see if they fit?

I thank you a thousand times for doing that, so now I can start gathering some cash for your set up for winter!

Sweet! Thanks for the PM and the posting of the pics. You even have the Quarter flare mudflaps! I will have them on my Camaro too so now I get to see the 18' wheels with them on too. Thanks again for all your time with this!

All Season 20' Tires

For those of us in the NY metro Area or other cold climates who will drive the Camaro all year round, the tires the car comes with will not work. The colder those tires get the worse the traction (especially below 40F). Forget about driving it in snow of any kind. You wont even be able to move it from one side of the street to the other. After looking around I realized that GM picked some very odd size combos and there are not to many choices. My first choice is usually Good Year, but they don't have anything in this size. I did some research based on the choices and narrowed it down to 2 possibilities. Below are the two I'm left with. One of them is a lower profile tire which is a whole question in itself and the other is not in the usual top 3 brands of tire but has a pretty strong rating. Look for the Tire poll in this area.

Michelin Pilot Sport A/S Plus (Ultra High Performance All-Season)

• Front: 245/40ZR20
• Blackwall
• Serv. Desc: 95Y
• UTQG: Treadwear: 500
Traction: AA
Temperature: A500 AA A
• Price: $366.00 (each)

• Rear: 275/35ZR20
• Load Range: XL
• Blackwall
• Serv. Desc: 102Y
• UTQG: Treadwear: 500
Traction: AA
Temperature: A500 AA A
• Price: $350.00 (each)

Yokohama Parada Spec-X (Street/Sport Truck All-Season)

• Front: 245/45R20
• Blackwall
• Serv. Desc: 99V
• UTQG: Treadwear: 420
Traction: A
Temperature: A420 A A
• Price: $139.00 (each)

• Rear: 275/40R20
• Load Range: XL
• Blackwall
• Serv. Desc: 106V
• UTQG: Treadwear: 420
Traction: A
Temperature: A420 A A
• Price: $141.00 (each)

Ok, so it looks like it will be VERY tough to exactly match the current tire sizes with a winter or all-season tire. I don't really want to shell out for new wheels at this time.
Currently it has 245-45-20s on the front and 275-40-20s on the rear. So any ideas what would be a logical front back combo for sizes? Would 255-50-20s be ok or the rear? I can get a set of Goodyear RS-A tires for a good price with the same size on front as now, and the 255-50s on the rear.
