All about protection
Just wondering what the pros and cons are of getting the clear sheild on a zl1. Seems like a smart idea but you never know.

I don't have clear bra on my car, but I would like to get it. The only protection I have now is Opti-Coat 2.0 and it's amazing stuff for keeping the paint looking good. The dirt washes off ridiculously easy. But like I said, I would still like to put clear bra on it. I want the front fascia and gills to be protected from road debris.

I have had the 3M Clear Shields on my past three cars and they've been worth every penny. Matter of fact, I'm getting my Clear Shield installed on my recently purchased ZL1 tomorrow morning.
I have no idea why anyone would not recommend this protection considering how much we've spent on our cars. My last car was a 2010 SS with 20K miles and the front end literally looked brand new.

I checked with my local body shop about the rock chips on my gills and they recommend going with this tougher clear coat, I forgot what it was called, but that way you won't have the clear bra lines. I may consider going this route as soon as I have the coin to fix my gills...

That is what I was thinking, just wanted some thoughts on the matter. Don't want the "Whoa dude, you shouldn't have done that" after it has ben installed.

I took the car to a detailer when the care only had about 300 miles on it. I had him completely detail the exterior to get it looking better than showroom condition (remove swirls, etc..), then apply the Opti-Coat 2.0.

I install these, and have for many years, I have no cons with them except for on dark vehicles you will see a flaw occasionaly, not much you can do about it on dark colors, but still way better than chips.
Also make sure you get the mirrors, pillars, front fenders behind front tires, and rear 1/4s in front of the back tires where the gills are. Also right behind the door handles, (finger nails).

Can any of you post photos of this on your vehicles, including on the gills?

Cant go wrong with a clear Bra. I got the whole front half done from the A pillers forward. Its one of the best things I put on my car.
