What if we could swap a '12 radiator for the '11? Would that solve it?

I was looking for the Vararam to fit the 2012 SS. I saw one for sale on J**gs and they have it listed as fitting 2010 to 2013. I thought cool, they finally made it. I called to verify and glad i did. Vararam indicated it was incorrect and they currently do not have one that fits the 2012+ SS yet and that website was incorrect, but they are still working towards having a 2012 model version soon.

I like the OTR concept and I think Vararam had it down to a T. I saw New Era(OTR) and I have heard lots of good reports about CAI(self-contained box and not pressure seal). Just piping the air filter to the side is obviously not good enough and neither is directly ramming the air in (never would have thought there is this much science to it) or Vararam would have just moved the hole over a bit for the radiator cap - there were program changes as well in the 2012 and it didn't behave the same.

I will not be able to wait and was curious if anyone could provide a competitive alternative?

Thanks.
So plastic is better I assume to prevent the heat absorption. Has anyone tried making a small, double wall lined tube to see if it makes a difference?

WOW! Ummm fun thread. A few good points were brought up from like pg 9-11 or something. TUNERs...are they absolutley necessary for a CAI? What's a good tuner for a stock SS and then using the same tuner to compensate for future bolt ons and what not?

Yes, better for heat soak. A double walled tube would do little more than increase the price of the intake considerably. The IAT's of the better intakes are at or within a degree or two of ambient, so going with a double wall wouldn't really gain you anything.

Bingo. This car has been out for 4 yrs now and CAI's have been out forever. Keeping the IAT's down isn't a issue for many of them, it's getting more air to travel down the same space.

A tune isn't necessary for all but a few of the CAI's. Those few should tell you that it's a tune only intake. Personally, I wouldn't throw a tuner on this car until you did some bigger upgrades, like LT headers. Get with the tuner of your choice to see what device he/she prefers.
