I think I would take the AR just for armor threat. Now my AR build will approach $1000 without optics

We have a raffle going for a colt AR and a XDs .45. Hoping I win one of them. Prefer the AR but could sell the XDs and put money down on a rifle. Not holding my breath though. I sold too many damn tickets lol

Our department ARs have eotechs on em and I like those a lot! Will probably have to have one.. Not so cheap!

Ive been really toying with the idea of going with the Primary Arms micro and magnifier... for the price you cant beat it.

However I just dropped $200 on the Timney drop in trigger #3.5 pull

I like this option best for room clearing. In CQB, you don't want a massive weapon, you want something compact and easily maneuverable. The above recommendation combines that with a very accurate rifle. Also, in room clearing, you don't need a weapon that's accurate to 200 yards or anything like that. If it's accurate at 100 yards, that's more than enough.

Heck, for room clearing you could even go with a "pistol" version of the AR like this:

It just depends on what else you want to have it for...

If you have the option, I would also recommend a Springfield Armory XDm in whatever caliber you prefer for a handgun. The double-stack magazine gives you 19 rounds of 9mm, 16 rounds of .40 S&W, or 13 rounds of .45ACP (excluding the one in the chamber). I have the XDm 9mm, and it is so easy to shoot and shoot well. I've put probably 1000 rounds through it since I bought it and have not had a single FTF.
