Cannot determine my package for Camaro

Hello,

I have been searching sites and Vin decoder in order to figure out what type of Camaro package I have. Can anyone help? I want to know if its just a base, SS, RS, Z28, etc before I add any emblems/decals to it and I would just like to know what type of Camaro I have.

Can anyone help? I've look through the RPOs, I have a picture of the Service Parts Identification and been looking through the RPOs. I've read through many other forums that some stuff has been left out of the RPOs and things like of that. I would just love to know what type of Camaro I have.

VIN: 2G1FP22K922148934

Thanks for everyone's help or advice that they can give me.

Quick VIN decode.. its a base v6 camaro

the "K" in the VIN is the code for L36 or V6 engine

Alright thanks. I did the VIN decode and it just didn't say anything as far as a base. I didn't know if it would say base or not. And it is a V6. So just a regular base nothing special about it?

Your VIN will not tell you the specific options installed on your camaro, only the RPO codes (located inside the drivers door) will give you specifics. Your VIN just tells you where the car was assembled, type of engine, year, production #, etc..

EDIT: here is a good website to get you started on decoding the RPO codes if you wanted..

Now my question is what base package is it? Is it the Sport Appearance or 3800 Perf. Pkg, there are 3 types of base packages if you look for 2002.

You would have to look at the RPO code list on the inside of the drivers door to find out for sure..

Sticker looks like this..

Would it have it on there? Or what if it doesn't have any of it on there, then its just a basic one? I'm going to look for it now.

If the sticker is there, you will have to look for either the code Y87 or Y3F. If it has one of the two, then you have a "performance package" installed.. if you don't have either one then my best bet would be that you have a base model V6 camaro.

y3f is the appearance package (gfx's) which you don't have
y87 is performance package which wasn't available for 02 http://tech.firebirdv6 com/
FYI most of the y87 codes got added to the 02's trying use up inventory like
Auburn Limited Slip Differential (G80)
3.42 rear axle (GU6)

so pretty much you have a base V6

Thanks for everyone's help. Now should I do anything to it? I have some money to toy with far as adding new headlights, stuff for the engine, etc etc...would you guys personally do that? And my plan is to have a 5th generation Camaro within the next 2 years.

I would just enjoy it for a while before doing anything to it to make sure you don't have to spend money on fixing things that may break. Once you are ready, I would start with cosmetic enhancements like maybe new headlights, new front grille and maybe even put on some rally stripes or hockey stripes to make it stand out and look more aggressive.

If your plan is to get a 5th gen in a couple of years then I wouldn't spend any money on the 4th gen because you will never get that money back out of it. I would just drive it until you are ready for tbe 5th gen.

How about a hood scoop? Where can I get one of those? Is it best to get a hood with a scoop already or can I buy a scoop then place it on the hood?

My girlfriend is already buying me hockey stripes and also Camaro decals and floor mats for Christmas but she didn't know about headlights, which ones would you recommend? And price range?
