RAM = Mcleod

I'm running a Mcleod RXT right now. Looking at the RAM throwout bearing assy 78180. Will this setup fix the RXT? Thanks for your input.

Are you having an issue with the stock slave? I recently installed an rxt and Mcleod recommended a new stock slave. Just curious.

I'd call the guys at McLeod and get their opinion. I can say that we tend to shy away from those style slaves because it's very easy to get things wrong and it becomes problematic.

That said, guys make upgraded release bearings for the 5th Gen Camaros and they tend to fix any issues one may have.

I noticed you said, "will this setup fix the RXT?" Is something going on with the RXT? I'd be more than happy to help with tech info if I can, let us know!

No issues with the RXT. When the stock clutch went I upgraded to the RXT and had the stock master cylinder and slave/throwout replaced with new stock units. 7 months later I had to have the stock slave and throwout replaced again. They were trashed. Now three months further down the road that stock master cylinder they replaced is trashed. Clutch itself is problem free however the hydraulics around it won't stay together. I'm wanting to upgrade the components around the clutch and want to make sure the fitment is correct.

I see.

What is failing on the two components themselves? Is the master leaking/breaking? Is it the bearing on the slave?

Me too. I researched the heck out of this clutch, and did not find much of anything negative about being used with stock hydraulics in these cars. Especially curious since Mcleod recommended to stay stock on hydraulics. It's such a light pedal effort I would think it would be easier on the slave and master.

OP, what kind of power are you making and do you do any type of racing?

The problem is the stock TO bearing ..The slave works great with a properly desighned clutch.

TO bearing was the same issue I was having with the ls9r. I wonder if a pedal stop will solve the problem you are having?

I trashed a TO bearing on my previous after market clutch, but I discovered that it wasn't setup properly, never fully disengaged. I think double checking clearances is key to TO bearing wear.

Agreed on the factory bearings, it seems even with the factory bearing load that they don't last long.

Regardless, I've seen some last through crazy abuse and some that don't, the lack of consistency is ridiculous. Depending on what the OP is experiencing will decide how we go further. I can see the bearing failing, not so much the master cylinder.

Our new street twins have built in pedal stops in them, this makes a world of difference.

I just noticed you're not that far from us, if you can swing by we'll take a look at it for free.

The RXT isn't the problem it works great and holds over 700rwhp without issues however the stock components weren't designed to hold that kind of hp and fail. I spoke with Mcleod tech today and they advised to stay with stock components if possible because the clutch was designed for them. He did recommend getting a stainless braided clutch line which will cut down on the heat to the fluid.
