These codes come back as misfires....what has oil level got to do with a cylinder misfire?

thats my point lol, i do my own oil changes and i use royal purple so its not like its a bad oil. they are saying it could be caused by the oil actuator not getting enough oil. this is the second time the p0300 code came up

I hear ya, I have the same problem. Little do they know that this girl works for a Distributor that sells/services diesel engines, transmissions and parts. Yeah, you just gotta prove them wrong!

I'd have them look into the coil packs

thanks for you advice, being a chick is this field can be hard to get respect sometimes. when they call tomorrow im going to tell them to look into the coil pack. the only difference from the first time is the cylinder 3 specific code. im hoping its covered under one of the warranties, cant see why it wouldn't be

I take it you have the V6? I have the same 3.6 early engine in my SRX... in those forums I have read that the V6 uses oil pressure to tension the timing chain... if there is low oil pressure (oil low) you can get the timing out of whack enough to cause misfires. Around 80k miles, I had a bunch of misfire codes and put in new plugs fixed the problem.

ive heard of the timing chain issue also, i only 41000 miles on my car. as far as the oil actuator question... that's what the service advisor told me when i brought them my oil today. its like they are just guessing the problem with my car.

Yeah, it is. Don't let it stop you from putting them in their place by voicing your concerns!

My Ford (v6) had the code for the cyl #3, then cleared out, then was #3 and another cyl, which I don't remember. So I just went ahead and changed the coil pack at a friends suggestion (which on the Ford was 1 coil pack for all 6 cylinders-I believe the Camaro has one coil pack on each cyl... not sure, would have to look it up). As soon as I bolted it in and started it up, it purred like a kitten and has been since. It was a faulty coil pack, that was only on the car for less than a year. I would assume it would be under warranty. My car was way past warranty period at the time, so I just did the work myself.

looks like on your car cylinder #3 had some misfires.

the easy way to test these coils is to move the problematic coil(s)... if the problem follows the coil, bad coil. not sure how easy to move coils on the camaro v6, the caddy I think a few were easy, others under the intake which wasn't so easy. I think the camaro has a totally different intake.

I was amazed how bad my plugs were at 80k miles. I thought all GM cars are 100k mile plugs but they were in horrible shape gap wise. Meanwhile my '04 Malibu with factory Iridium plugs at 125k miles had absolutely no wear and ran perfect.
