Dynomax VT owners
ok guys/gals I need some information on your mufflers.
I bought my dynomax vt's in December. my first issue is i lined the right muffler up just fine and used the clamp to tighten everything up. when i try and line the left muffler up and tighten, after a week it will have moved and be resting against the rear diffuser. I did this 3 times, before adding another washer and re-tightening. a week has gone by and its moved again almost touching the diffuser. i have to really try and torque the muffler to get it to line up. did anyone else have this issue? also when i last crawled under there, i noticed there is rust all along where the welds are and in some spots on the muffler itself, is this normal? |

I don't own these mufflers, but the issue of clamps not holding tight enough is not uncommon. You may have to take it to a muffler shop and have them weld them in place.

Go to your local parts store and get a U bolt clamp and tighten it down real good. You could use it with the clamp that came with the kit also so .that you have 2 on there. The U bolt will really tighten it up

I had Dynomax VT on my previous Camaro. Clamps held fine. You have to tighen them like you mean it. I used a half inch breaker bar to snug them, lol.

I tightened mine with air wrench as tight as possible, been on for 2 years no problem.
I have checked the clamps occasionally and they are still tight. both sides lined up no problem the exhaust tips still are not hitting the diffusser. attached picture taken before I put in storage for the winter. I do have some rust on the welds. |

How do you like the sound of the VT. Any issues with the springs/valves rattling.?

I have the VT system as well, love the sound as its relatively quiet just cruising but if you get on it, it will wake you up!
I have rattles on startup but I think thats more of the extra vibration from startup as the rattles go away soon as the rpms smooth out. |
