Is there any way to make this trim look like it used to?

Just like the title says. It is the door molding just above the rocker panels. It is on a white Silverado. Rest of the truck is in decent shape.

Possibly clay barring. But I doubt it. It's made out of a different material and most likely a different clear coat than the actual vehicle.

Yeah clay bar, iron x, polish if it's clear coated. I don't know how well it will actually turn out but it should help some.

Those moldings are notorious for that, unfortunately. I have a black 09 and mine are not nearly as black as the rest of the paint is.

You can clay them, then attempt some polishing on them. Just use caution as they are plastic, so generating too much heat too quickly with a machine will do you more harm than good.

As Nick pointed out... notorious issue for GM.

Honestly, best bet it to remove them b/c there isn't much that can be done to bring them back. The material they're made of (some weird poly/plastic) discolors with time. Not sure if its the material leaching out thru the paint, or the paint not bonding correctly to the material or being primed appropriately at the factory.

If you look around while you're driving most every white tahoe or truck will have discoloration to some degree there. On black vehicles it appears more 'grayish'.

They come off extremely easy... little fishing line, a heat gun or hair dryer, and a 3M eraser wheel and you'd never know they were there.
