Sport Muscle Wheels are cheap Chinese JUNK!

Buyer beware I purchased a set of four for my new 2SS from The Tire Rack. When they got here the two front had to be returned, one had light plating on it, and the other was discolored (stained). The two rear wheels had to have the center caps replaced because they were yellow, a sign of not enough chrome.

Today I was going to wash them up and wax them before mounting them and with a closer look they are not a good quality product at all. On one wheel I had to spend three hours sanding down the seat to the wheel adapter ring, bore too small. Good thing I have close tolerance measuring tools to make sure everything would run true.

In closing this is another example of cheap Chinese junk, I should of spent the extra money and bought a name brand like American Racing.

No problems on my Vette with them as my street rims...
Maybe you got a bad set?
Tire Rack is usually pretty good on what they sell..

American Racing has high manufacturing standards. There are a lot of good products built in China, a lot of junk too! I can say if I knew what I know now I would not have bought these rims bottom line!

I got the SM Tachs in chrome and am very happy with the set I got. Just as good if not better then any of the many AR rims I owned. Thinking also you may have got a bad set?

Most factory Camaro SS and RS 5-spoke wheels are made in China IIRC. In today's world, whoever can manufacture them the cheapest usually gets the contract.
