I read the link, but why would you want your throttle to open up when you have your brake and clutch pressed? Arent you trying to slow down at that point?

And why aren't you slowing down in this scenario? The clutch is in. You're raising rpms while the engine is 'clutch in'.

The goal here was to make the correct revs for the downshift instead of dumping the new gear onto the engine and upsetting the car while the engine makes the rpms jump.

I'm sure you have felt the car 'throw you forward' on a decel downshift. If you had rev-matched, that wouldn't have happened.

People seem to be confusing heel and toe with rev matching downshifts. Not the same thing at all.

Ok, makes sense now. Thanks for clearing it up. Now that I know what it does, I am all in for one as well

Well, if you're using heel and toe, you're doing that to rev match while braking at the same time. Otherwise, you wouldn't need to heel and toe, but point taken- you don't need to heel and toe to rev match.

In order for this to work it needs to monitor which gear and also what the rpm is when attempting to downshift. The system does not appear to monitor these.

The gear is important because you are matching the current ratio to the new ratio of the lower gear.

The rpm is important because of the ratio difference. 10 percent of 2000 is different than 10 percent of 6000 for example.

if you're tracking or driving spirited and you're approaching a corner, most drivers (including me) in manual trans cars brake hard and in the corner release brakes and at same time hit clutch and blip throttle while downshifting... then back on the gas. if you know how to heal/toe, you can brake and downshift all at the same time and be way faster and smoother.

I can do this seamlessly on my CBR cause you can activate the brakes, clutch, throttle, shifter all on different hands/feet.

this device basically give you that 3rd foot to operate the 3rd pedal (blip throttle) during heavy braking and downshifting. so even if you can't heal/toe, gives you the same results

How about this... and I know this may sound crazy... just learn to do it yourself.

It's not that hard, it will save you $400, and you will have a new driving skill.

There's no downside.

Not all of us are 5'2" and have small feet. Heel toe method is not as easy as it sounds.....

Heel and toe is not necessary to rev match. Heel and toe is a technique to rev match while braking

I like the sound of it. Little concerned with using wire taps. Any thoughts on this? Anyone used wire taps before?

I don't get it. Shifting is part of driving... I don't really see the joy of automating it. I have an automatic L99, but if I had a manual, I don't see myself ordering one of these.
