ok, yeah. looks like 1-6 are in the same place and 7 is just tacked on at the end. I could see a 4-7 shift occasionally.

In the 7 spd manual, 3rd is straight up and 4th is straight down from neutral. 7th is only used when cruising at or above 65, and I have not hit 7th when trying for 5th since I got my Corvette in January 2014.

Not sure if the Corvette has an override for the purists or not but that should satisfy all types of drivers. Your thoughts?
If you listen to the sound clip they released, at the end, when he's downshifting, you can hear the throttle blip. Of course, that could be many things, but I'm betting it's rev match. It appears to be a big hit with the Corvette guys. Yes, it can be turned off also.

That's what I'm talking about!

Seriously tho, an 8 speed manual with hi-lo splitter would be capable of low revving gas miser driving or spirited 4-speed gitter done acceleration! The only downside is that people would actually have to think to drive.....

That's expecting way too much from the average driver.

You have to manually place the paddle into REV MATCH each time you start the car if you want to use it.

7th gear is only for highway driving at a higher speed (70 or 75+). It helps you save fuel and you can use the fuel saving mode (have not tried that mode yet). The one time I tried 7th gear I almost immediately pulled it into a lower gear to quickly pass someone. I will try it again on an upcoming trip, but can see that it will get very little use.
