Windshield mounting options for smartphone + Track

Does anyone have a decent mounting set up with their cell phone to record from a mount on the windshield? I currently have a RAM mount, which works just fine for recording times, but there seems to be way too much vibration in the car (combination exhaust noise + high speeds?). The video that my current mount records is fairly blurry due to the vibration at higher RPMs, so I'm hoping that I can retain a window mount that won't suffer from the vibration nearly as much.

I was going to suggest ram mounts as I found it to be a lot better than my previous mount. If that isn't working for you than I'm not sure what you should do, I've heard they are the best.

What type of phone do you have? I think some phones have image stabilization in them which would add to the blurriness you see.

My iphone videos come out pretty decent, albeit not as good as a GoPro but good enough.

I use the ram mount with a IPhone 5s mounted directly below the rearview mirror. It works pretty well but does vibrate on occasion. I am going to try to secure the end closers to the phone to the post on the rearview mirror. Might just be with a zip tie at the next track outing. I will post the video after to see if it works.

I have an iPhone6 plus. It's not horrible enough for me to completely discard, but it's bothersome to say the least.

As an example, here's the last session I recorded at VIR: http://youtu.be/OSydNsoFEmg

Also, the mounting solution I"m using is essentially this one: http://www.rammount.com/part/RAM-B-166-AP18U

So the phone sits very securely in it's holder - I am not using the x-grip.

How is your rear camera mounted? It seems pretty excellent.

Same here, no issues with vibration though.

It's a gopro on a suction mount. I know because I was the gray Camaro behind him in the earlier parts of that video.

I ordered the x-grip with a short arm and suction cup, so we'll see how it compares to your form fit setup. Maybe something about the form fit holders allows it to move around a bit more than the x-grip.

Tested it out and it shakes the video a pretty good bit. Just too much muscle under the hood I guess, lol. I'm sure the springs, struts and tires don't help either.

I started using a small piece of Velcro attached on the vast open passenger side of the dashboard space. You can then find a slim case for your phone (bought for $5 on Amazon for my phone), put the other side of Velcro to it, and use it with ease at the track. The front windshield is way too small, and no matter where I tried (including under the rear view mirror), I ended up blocking useful view.

Got a picture of this?

It sounds like an idea I could borrow to occasionally mount an Aeroforce gauge and/or other instrumentation where the GoPro can see it. Does it raise any questions going through tech or draw recommendations to add a separate tether?
