MY engine only stalled because the " recovery", it seemed like after letting off was not fast enough on the throttle to keep it high enough to stay idling. I had just gotten a new engine installed and it only had dyno tuned for break in on the dyno and I was the first to drive it. It would stall when letting off and going to coast to a stop light by putting the car into neutral. It would not load up as much as my last engine with cam meaning: the engine is under load and the load being released used to with my last cam rev the engine slightly when the load is taken off. SO when taking it out of gear it revs for a second sometimes with two pulses slightly making a nice sound.... My car now does that again, I had to drive it to my Guru and he went into the throttle controls on the gm software hooked through lap top via obd2 port and I tried it once with a little improvement, took it back and then he gave it more throttle and that solved the problem: if it was through the gm software or hp tuning I do not know. I just know my guy knows his stuff and that's inside and out, so maybe you should talk to him if he had time though I know he is a very busy man. His name is Tommy Wong he is a nice guy and worked doing electrical engineering for paper mills before he got into mechanical and owning his own shop. I think he would say you need to take your car to someone else as no one should chase a valve cover leak for that long ..... and the fix may be really simple for your cars problem but its all in hooking it up and setting it right by adjustments to AFR, throttle , response etc etc, and its not cheap for a good dyno tune its $550.

Last I saw him he just tuned a corvette someone had supposedly tuned after installing a blower on new c-7, it would not run well wide open even, SO tommy tuned it and gained the guy 77 rwhp and set the timing correct for the pulses of the direct injection engine to have the gas hit perfectly timed into the cylinder firing as its like a diesel being direct injection. And the guy traveled hundreds of miles to see him, heck I only have to go 50+. You should widen your horizons as finding the best in your area may require a wait to stand in line to get the tune done right. If the person who is tuning your car does not know tuning that well, or have the right software, or the right experience all those things go against getting the optimal tune and a good tuner has a library of past tunes and knows how to preset everything just about right before even firing the engine based on previous tunes with the same type mods on the same engine. Anyway good luck to you, You should be asking who the best tuner is in your area. And data logging is leaving a connection open from the obd2 port to a computer to record what the car does in time as measured by data via software.

Thanks Christian, I did speak to your guy and he said to send him the tune and he will take a look at it. Thanks for the info.

By the way, the guy I use is one of the top guys in my area. He just has not seen this issue before.

I know your issue may be related to the work but when I was wrenching on cars for a living some years ago, I had a car that did this same exact issue come into the shop after being everywhere with no resolution.. Found a bad clutch switch so the ECM was not registering the clutch was depressed so it was in full decel mode stalling the car.. Blew me away but that was it.. I'm sure yours is ok just trying to throw it out there.. never know.

@Christian. Did your car do it all the time or was it random. On my car its random, I can drive it for hours with no problem then all of a sudden it will stall and then its ok again.

Mine did it just a few times, and it did seem to want to do it ,then as I was paying close attention to the rpms I noticed the drop off when coming off throttle as the car was not recovering throttle quick enough, now my throttle is just as if I have a cable , I can blip the throttle for a split second and it revs. And the car is as it should be, and revs slightly with the engine and cams power when letting off after getting into neutral as the load from the tranny is off.
