If you think those two cars look alike, besides being red and having four tires, you are:

Order the car with MRC npp and maybe the 8 speed automatic....
It prices around 42 grand and kicks serious @ss... Anytime a new model releases the dealers load them up so potiential MSRP buyers don't walk because some option they wanted is missing... Besides dealers make more money on fully loaded vehicles.. I always order my cars exactly as I want them... Half the options offered contains crap I don't want so I just order my cars with the color and options I want... 7 weeks later the car rolls in and I pick it up. I haven't even seen the new camaro yet in person but as far as I can tell it offers corvette levels of performance with the capability of 2 plus 2 seating. Sounds like a winner to me.

Holy Shyte batman. We need a car that does ABCDEFGHIJKLMNOPQRSTUVWXYZ, can we get it for the same price as the cars that do A and B? NO????
wah wah wah wah wah wah just sayin. And then the flipside - "Man, Chevy didn't put DEFGHIJKLMNOPQRSTUVWXYZ in the new CAMARO, man I would have paid a lot more had they put all that stuff in". Probably the same guy too.

This is getting really old.
Everyone saying "Oh I can get a 15 Zl1 or a used C7 for a fully loaded 2SS. " Just stop. Seriously. Do you understand the saying that you have to compare apples to apples? Yes. You can get a 15 Zl1 for close to the same price as a fully loaded 16 2SS. I'm sorry, but the interior is outdated and very plasticky. Yes, you get an extra 125 horses. But hey, you also spend how much more in insurance and gas. People are averaging 15 mpg on ZL1s. The 2SS will easily do 20 combined. And let's not forget that you get almost the same performance. Look at 1/4 mile times and 0-60 times on both cars. Take them both to a track, and I'm sure we will see the 2SS perform extremely well. So we can also get a used C7 for the same price as a new 2SS. The only C7 approaching 48k is a used 1LT. Definitely not apples to apples. But even if you are fine missing out on a few of the creature comforts. You are still comparing a USED car vs a NEW car. A fair comparison is to wait a year and look at the prices on a used C7 vs a used 16 2SS. Only way to truly compare the price. Not to mention that with a used car, you have no idea how hard someone was pushing that car. Not a clue. I'm sorry, but that is why I buy new. I know what I do and don't do to my car, since day one. Makes me less nervous. But that's just me. All that being said, don't think for one second that I haven't looked at the deals going on lately for ZL1s or C7s. They are great deals. I have seriously debated getting into one of those over a 16 2SS. Ever since employee pricing was confirmed though for the 2SS, I am pretty sold on that. Considering what I get for the price on each and the pros and cons of insurance and gas with each. And finally, for just a daily driver, the performance on all these cars is so similar that I will have too much fun in any of them. Good luck to everyone with their decision though. It's a great time to love these cars! |

To me, the question is simple: Do you want the new model and will you pay a substantial premium to get it, or are you more interested in value?
There's no right answer - it all depends on each buyer. I bought one of the first 500 Gen. 5 Camaros, which was cool. I very much enjoyed it. But having scratched that itch already, I'm much more inclined at this point to buy a used ZL1 or Corvette, just because I don't want to take a huge hit on depreciation. That's me, though. What's best for you depends on what you want. In either case, the whole point is to enjoy a great driving experience. |

I get the whole apples to apples comparison argument but my beef is just how much more it would cost to get into the same Camaro I have now. For example, I have a loaded 2013 2SS 1LE, NPP, NAV, sunroof. Msrp was around $43k, paid $39k. My argument is that with price increase and lack of any real discounting at this time I would have to get a 2016 1SS with like maybe one option NPP to be at the same price. If I compare to a 2016 2SS it will be around $45-46k and we are not even talking 1LE trim yet. I think it is a little easier to justify the upgrade if I were driving a 2013 SS non-1LE and it had a 6 speed auto and 400hp and no NPP option Then you can argue the 8 speed auto, 55hp bump, exhaust, MRC for improved handling, etc. to help justify the increase in price. However, if you compare a 2013-15 SS 1LE it gets a little harder since you are at 426hp already, awesome rims and 285 rubber, all the track suspension upgrades, appearance upgrades, 3.91 rear, etc.
With the manual transmission these are are have a similar 0-60 of 4.3 to 4.4. The 1/4 mi comes up .5 quicker in the new Camaro if that matters at all. I would be curious to see a Randy Pobst hot lap in a 2015 SS 1LE vs. 2016 Camaro SS with MRC. I think I just reconvinced myself of how good of a value the 1LE package really was. |

This is what you said: "I am waiting to trade my 2012 1SS for a 2016 1SS with 1LE trim in the $40-43,000 range."

People are shocked to find that dealers order cars with as many options possible, honestly I don't think that the OP if he were to order a car instead of buying whats on the lot would option the vehicles as the dealer has.
Dealers can be greedy and they know early on you get those got to have the first one buyer and want it "fully" loaded. So they will start to add on optional wheels and accessories in order to get the price up. If I were to order a 2016 SS right now this is how I would option it in either 1SS or 2SS form.... 1SS 6-speed NPP exhaust sun roof $39,090 2SS ceramic white interior split spoke grey wheels NPP exhaust sun roof I live in an area with pretty smooth roads so I don't think that I would opt for the MRC$44,790 |
