Just got the bad news this morning, raised numbers. VIN 118944 Built 1/16

They are getting the parts and hopefully she goes in early next week.

Thanks to those who posted about the recall. I've yet to hear from GM on this and at least I'm near the front of the line now.

How likely are leaks down the road because of this repair?

If the tech does their job right, and get's rid of the entire old pan gasket, cleans both surfaces, uses a brand new gasket, installs it correctly and torques it down right. Zero chance. If any of the above aren't followed correctly....maybe a small leak. But it should show up pretty quick if there is an issue.

Good morning all,
Just wanted to also ask a related question - would this prevent you from buying a car in which this procedure has been done? Would you find one that does not need this instead for purchase? Thanks!!

Just set your center gauge to oil pressure to be safe.

Gary climbed underneath the car. and thanks to the PDF file, he was able to see it. No raised numbers, he could see etched numbers. So glad he didn't need to have the engine pulled. He's been spazzin' out since I brought this thread to his attention after lunch.

Sorry to hear that.
I took delivery last night on my car and had them check the VIN for this before I signed on the line!

Hope it all goes smooth for you.
