Auto Tranny locked up going about 35mph

Holysmokes Batman,

I just got off the highway and was going about 35 on a back street when the rear wheels just lockup for no reason and I see tire smoke. Thank goodness I reacted fast and shifted it in to manual mode and the tranny released so i could keep driving. Nobody was on my ass so I didnt get hit but I skidded and went into the other lane a bit. Glad nobody was coming the other way. Wow I definitely had to check my shorts on this event. Sure gets your heart racing when you car decides to stop for no reason. Engine malfunction OBDII light is on steady now. Making an appt at the dealership tomorrow. Anybody else have an auto tranny lockup like this? Drove it in manual sport mode and got me home OK and shifted normal. Something seems off in the regular D mode.

Wow, that would be a little nerve racking ... glad you kept your cool & everything under control. Glad no one was hurt and your car (other then the tranny) was undamaged.

Thanks guys. I'm thankful nothing happened to anybody else or the car. I'll update the post once I bring her into the dealership and find out what's going on. I've had a lot of cars and never had this happen before.

Sorry to hear you nearly soiled yourself. I put my car in the shop on Monday for different reasons, but if I had it to do over I would call around and take it to a dealership that has a loaner to give...my neighborhood dealership is always out of them. It's been a couple days now and its getting inconvenient not having something to drive. I'm also sorry somebody always has to bring up his or her gayness when we were fine not knowing. OP, thanks for sharing and keep us posted.

The only experience I have with that was a rear end going out in a 73 chevelle SS and locking up..... That sounds like a walk away .....Where you drop the keys off and write to GM saying NO fuggin way AM I driving this death trap, theres no three strikes your out lemon law, this is deadly. What ever the hell caused it. You better document and save the response dropping it off, and be ready for a battle. Because, its not a average oops a problem occurred deal , this is a deal breaker, and you may want a secondary mechanic to scan the codes and document it before you drop it off to have a second source of documentation to show for a battle.........

Because this does not happen ever on here I hope the ROBO customer service from GM BOT is around to send you a message........ But doubt it, as this is definitely a No-No and bad for business.

Hello Car.freaks,

We regret to learn of what occurred to you the other day and are glad you are safe. We can only imagine how upsetting this must have been, especially after exiting the highway. Rumor had it, you had to turn the light off in your bathroom with candles lit on your smart phone in order to summon them.

Maybe you have the magic touch!
