My 2SS A8 is rev limited to 4k. It is a bummer when another sports car pulls up and revs as a hi and you have trouble doing the same back to him.

As stated, perfectly normal. Autos get a 4k RPM rev limiter; manuals do not.

The car is limited at 4K in neutral, in tour mode and in drive/tiptronic, it's still limited but in sport or track the car will rev up Higher, if track is off and you try to rev all the way up in drive with the brake you'll burn out, if you're in competitive mode (SS models) with the brake fully engaged and throttle fully opened the car revs up about 2100 and holds it for the launch control
