A performance car to me has to be manual, automatics are for old lazy people. Can't stand the sound of an auto car accelerating and shifting, gayest thing EVER. But hey, thats just my opinion.

the fastest and most consistent drag cars are running automatics, but i guess they are all driven by lazy old people.

Learned to drive a stick almost 50 years ago. 3 speed on the column. Wife learned off of a 66 Chevelle. beater car that I had right after we were married. 3 speed on the tree
Both my sons learned off of a 64 Biscayne I had. 3 on the tree.

At 50 i have never driven a car with a manual trans till I test drove a corvette at a carmax . Few YouTube videos and I was good to go, kinda . Second time I drove a manual trans was when I picked my 1le up at the dealer. I owned a 2010 camaro ss with an auto and over time I hated it , it looked great but the AFM killed it for me . And lack of exhaust note didn't help. Was boring just taken back road drives. Getting the 6 speed wasn't an easy choice but it fixed what was missing from my last camaro . No regrets at all, and so much more fun to just drive .

Kind of sounds like me. After I learned to drive manual car, I started watching YouTube videos on changing gears on motorcycles/dirtbikes, so once I got a chance to ride a old Kawasaki ninja 250, I got the hang of it the first time!

First manual car I've bought in 20 years and I love it. Not a DD though, which likely makes a huge difference.

I come from a euro car background and there is absolutely nothing wrong with the 5th gen clutch or gearbox. Can't speak for your mustang, never driven one.

I'd rather have a "gay automatic" than have an IQ of the room temperature.
