Will a JL Audio E2150 amp work well with JL C5-650s?
I have JL C5-650's in the camaro but no amp to power them yet.
My buddy has an old JL Audio E2150 2 channel amp. It's power rating is 4 ohms: 45 watts x 2 chan. 2 ohms: 75 watts x 2 chan. and the C5 speakers are rated for Continuous Power Handling (RMS) 75 W Peak Music Power 225 W I'm not all that savvy to car audio so not sure what it means when the speakers take up to 75 watt but total peak music power is 225, wouldn't peak power be 150? Obviously I'm not well versed in this. I was just wondering if this amp will be underpowering or complement the speakers well. The fact that the amp's max is 75 watt makes me nervous as I would normally want to be a little over to make up for any power loss. Should I use this amp that I can have for free? or should I buy one that would use the speaker's potential better? Just trying to get a good grasp on how well they complement. I'd rather spend a hundred bucks or more on an amp like the JL 360/2 if it will sound better with the expensive speakers. But if E2150 will power the speakers perfectly then I don't want to spend money unnecessarily. Any advice would be great thanks

The C5s require 25w minimum, you'll be fine with that old amp.

okay good to know. but will it benefit from having a better amp? Or will it not matter?

Class A/B amps are better than class D. Regardless, since you already have the E2150 or I imagine sourcing it for $50-$75, there is really no need to run out and spend $150-300 on a newer 2 channel amp.
