Think my amp or HU is dying

Last night I encountered a bit of an odd bug. I started the car and got down the block before I realized that my audio was distorting a tiny bit, and the front driver channel seemed to be coming in and out. My initial thought was it was just a loose wire or two, but then I remembered I soldered all my connections.

ALSO, I tried something else that further ruled out a loose wire. On the pioneer radios, there's a "source off" mode that (seems) is the equivalent of turning your factory radio off. All I know is that it turns off the factory amp, and maybe some of the circuitry inside the radio itself. I cycled that, and the issue disappeared and remained off for the duration of the trip. But then, the same thing happened this morning, and the same thing fixed it.

So, what's everyone think, factory (BA) amp, or the radio itself?

Hi, I'm sorry I do not know the answer to your question, I wish I did.

However, you wrote something that intrigues me; you mention that there is a "source off" mode that would turn off the factory B.A. amp. My pioneer does not activate / use the amp, and I can't figure out why. Could you be a little more explicit please?
