I've not had any issues with the timer starting early from what I have noticed. And if so, then these times from my 2nd 1/4 attempt on the street impress me even more.

I am consistently getting 4.3 or 4.4 0-60 using launch control. The few times I tried it without launch control it lights up the tires. Haven't found a road a comfortable running a quarter mile test on. I wish it had an 1/8 mile timer.

Agreed. On the street, it is not a good idea to drive 115+.

Thanks for the info, I was thinking this was for the dragstrip. but after staged lunging forward is a red light. I will have to wait till spring to go to the track and see what times I can get without the launch control. Also thanks for the info on the timer.

I haven't had it to the track yet. Will have to wait until this spring. Launch control should work fine at the track, several other guys on here say they have used it with no issues. When I say it lunges, you can feel the car trying to move forward but I think the actual movement of the car is very little and should not set off the red light.

I did get the launch control to work in track mode with the 2 quick traction control button for completion mode and it did keep the car in place.. I have also found the hidden 0 to 60 timer. Now I will have to put the 2 things together. Thanks for all the great info here.

I picked up my 2SS 50th (A8) last July and took it to the strip in Valdosta, GA for the first and so far only time back in October for Pony Wars. Took me a few passes to get used to the car (previously had a 2012 V6 Camaro) and try to figure out launch control and best time of the day was a 12.22 @ 115 so I was fairly impressed.

Thing is, even though I managed good times, I'm not convinced I was using launch control correctly. Reading this thread I think I had similar issues to what a few people have reported. After consulting the manual (again) I knew I needed to stand on the brake and hit the gas (sport mode with comp mode active) but when I hit the gas the car would lurch forward and it felt like it was lunging like it really wanted to bust loose. Friends watching one pass said they could see my tires slowly turning while I was standing at the tree. Unfortunately I don't remember what RPM it was holding, or trying to hold so I can't compare to what it should do.

Do we know what the stall limit of the factory converter is? I remember in my old V6 with no fancy launch control options if your foot was on the brake and you gave it full throttle the RPMs would go up to about 1500 and stay there and the car would be calm and settled. I assume that's the torque converter doing its job. I'm pretty sure in the new car the RPMs went higher than that but again, I don't remember how high.

I'm nervous to try again unless I'm sure I'm doing it right as I really don't want to bust the trans or converter (or anything else). Thoughts?

You will not break the transmission or torque converter if don't get launch control activated. With those times I wouldn't use launch control. You obviously can do great without it.

Yeah, there's no way they would ever make a system that would let you need anything up. Cars are literally idiot and abuse proof. I imagine that once transmission temperature gets above a certain temp it probably disables LC. So if you just sat there and held it down, it would eventually cut off once the torque converter built up enough heat from stalling it.

I wasn't sure if you figured it out or not, but I noticed you wrote sport mode. Pretty sure the only way to get into competition mode with launch control, is to be in Track Mode, then double tap the TC button. If that's just a typo, then the only other suggestion I have is to make sure you're pushing hard on the brakes and very quickly slam the throttle to floor.

I had the same problem. Easy fix.
Ah ha...tried everything but that and cutting 4.2s, tires still don't hook. Thanks for the info!

My 1le doesn't show competition mode. Double press the TC and my options are wet, dry, sport1, sport2, and race i believe.

You have to be in Sport or Track, then push it twice and it will pop up. You're getting some of your PTM settings mixed up...
