You will lose any money spent on tax, tags, title, dealer fees, etc. If the car has any damage you will have to pay to have that repaired out-of-pocket as well. As far as I can find, there is NO requirement to buy another car from anyone.
If you have a trade-in it gets more complicated, because you have to actually purchase your trade-in back, so you lose another round of tax, tags, title, and fees as well as any markup the dealer may have placed on the vehicle (they DO own it after you sign the papers).

The 60-day GM Satisfaction Guarantee DOES apply to the Camaro.

I'm still amazed at the $500 opt out option. Let's say they run this promotion for 2 months. I believe that I read that they produce approximately 400 new Camaros per day (and perhaps more with the reported production increase) That's 24,000 Camaros. From reading this forum, there will only be a small amount of people that will want to return their car in 2 months. And even then, it's not like it's a total loss for GM. They will easily be able to resell the car for close to MSRP. But they are guaranteeing that they will have to pay $12 million for the people, myself being one of them (my 2LT/RS, 6 speed manual, SIM/Black is on the train headed to NJ) that opt out. I am very happy that I will be getting $500 off of my car, but I don't think the opt out was the wisest business decision.

What if you just drive around in a new Camaro for 60 days, trade it in and get the opposite of what you had. So for example, I have a M6. Could I trade it in for a Automatic 2SS? lol...

Then after that, trade it it out for a new Vette?

Sure, but if you put a scratch in the one your 'testing' or do anything which results in more than $200 in damage, it's all yours (ie, can't be returned). Also, all dealer fees are NON-REFUNDABLE, so you'll be on the line for that as well and most dealers nowadays have a dealer fee between $300 and $800 printed right on the paperwork. You can get them to remove it in many instances, but when they do, they simply deduct it from the price you're paying for the car which means that it will not be refunded when you return the car.

As for the $500 being a bad business decision....not if it helps them move cars. As incentives go, $500 is actually quite small and Camaro's are likely rapidly approaching the point where a little incentive might be in order. Some dealers are already willing to sell them at GMS.

You're going to lose your sales tax/title transfer fees too....that could be a considerable amount depending on your state.
