I like where you're going with this.

God i hope not!!, It would look embarrising to Chevy that a Supercharged 6.2 ltr V8 only makes 500hp. Also The GT-500 would Kick the Z/28 butt if that were the case, rember with a supercharger comes additional wieght.

Thats what the Ideal Z/28 should be IMHO, But only if GM can up the LS7 HP to about 540-550, and shed about 300lbs of weight. Also a stripper trim level with no power seat, crank windows etc.. but leave the A.C. and Stereo would be nice. I'm Dreaming, I know.

Here is my Dream 2012 Z/28 (there is most likely a 2012 boss mustang coming)

1. 550hp LS7
2. Forged alluminim light wieght wheels (-45lbs of unsprung weight)
3. Carbon fiber roof and fenders & alluminum doors ( -175lbs of weight maybe )
4. OPTIONAL- Light wieght seats (non power adjustable) with no butt warmers, and crank windows (- 75lbs of weight)
5. CTS-V Brakes and Suspension

A Z/28 like that would be a beast and true to its roots of being a High RPM road racing monster!! Yep I am Dreaming.

Well with an engine that makes that much torque the suspension and the rest of the drive train will need some serious strengthening, all of which adds more cost to the car. Heck look how much a CTS-V costs. That is way outside the price range they want to keep it in if they don't want to intrude into Corvette territory. If they detune it they may be able to get away with having to do less of that and keep it from being any kind of competition to the CTS-V and the Corvette while keeping costs down. Since it is a blown engine it would be easy for them to do with just a larger blower pulley to reduce boost. Even with that if the Vette sales don't pick back up they wont be able to not get into Vette price range since you can get remaining new 2009 Vettes (1LTs) for $38-$39k!

I don't understand what people's obession with the LS7 is.

We've been told it's on it's way out. It's just to expensive to build.

Cuz it's a beast and all you have to do is sleeve the thing if you want to do more on the forced induction side.

I know that. But it won't be in production much longer. It would be too costly for GM to make an LS7 Z28 IMO

Oh yeah I have tried to stay out of this one but LS7 is to expensive to continue building and a more efficient LS model will be the way to go for sure...this has been talked about for the last year or so on the vette forum..

But the question begs to be answered........the LS7 in the Z06 is a world beater.........why kill it

My thought is keep the boys at Wixom hand building stuff if there is a demand.

Ask a true driver what he'd rather take around Laguna Seca for long periods of time.........Z06 or an LS9 "brute"

Camaro has to go on a diet and get some handles to have any more horsepower than it already does anyway. But I am a big LS7 fan. I am buying a couple to put away

What is up with this bogus argument that the LS7 is too expensive for a Z/28 camaro, When the LSA COST MORE than an LS7!!! again I say The only reason I see the LS7 not being used is because it does not have the hp to compete with the GT-500, unless the LS7 gets a hp bump up and the camaro Z/28 sheds 300lbs compared to the SS.
