ok well the zl1 won't be here until q1 2012 and i would the say the 2013 gt500s will follow in q2 or MAYBE q3 at the latest, so don't act like there are years separating the cars, because there aren't.

I think CAMAROZL1 meant GT500. Super Snakes with 725+ HP have been around since 2007 or 2008. |

There is also a video of the 2011 GT500 vs. CTS-V on a road course, and the GT500 slaughtered the CTS-V. Should be a drivers race between the GT500 and the ZL1. |

thank you, It is a reasonable argument.. in that road and track video they raced an automatic ctsv vs. the gt500 on what looked like a regular road so you know the gt500 wasn't getting any traction. The gt500 did trap higher by a couple mph in that test if I remember correctly. I understand the zl1 is lighter and more powerful so I hope that it would be able to beat the gt500. There's no need for everyone getting all bent out of shape because I stirred up some conversation. There isn't much else to talk about regarding the zl1 right now since the news has been kind of low lately, so why not speculate a little.

Too many unknowns right now .. but what we do know is the 2011/12 GT500 performance numbers and they are on the road right now, so the GT500 wins
In all reality, we know that the GT500 was the benchmark for the ZL1 (We should be thanking FORD!!!!!) ... That being said, I would be suprised if it wasn't at least as good in a straight line and in the twisties .. Soon enough we will know though ... Crowley

Well I can see into the future and I see the ZL1 winning by a mile! End of discussion!

Need to get some WIN into this thread.
I think it is funny that we HAVE TO compare the ZL1 and the GT500 by using rolling starts (on a closed course ofcourse) since we all know that the GT500 can't even handle the power it has now! In that CTS-V/GT500 video (who knows what mods the car really has) the CTS-V makes up a lot of ground (almost all) when they get to turns. So to answer the question I think even after helping the GT500 over come its traction problems by using the rolling start the ZL1 will still come out on top. So why should the ZL1 worry about the 2013 GT500 that suposedly will have 600-650HP?!?! I assume it will still have the same problem (useless power that isn't getting you anywhere) Also I thought the ZL1 is a 2013 just early release. |

I'm sorry to sound like an A$$ why are we doing a race from a Roll ? Thats Pu$$y racing we are not in HS anymore lets put the driver to work.
Lock up those Tires Both cars will be Fabolous. If the GT500 has some wider tires it should be a GREAT race. IMO despite the HP and weight a Race with these two cars will come down to either a driver or a choice of Tire out back. Gm's Launch control in the ZL1 may help it a lot as they have spent a lot of hours launching this car. OMG a Automatic ZL1 will be awsome I bet on the track. |
