A model year-to-model year change. Similar to how the Vette got an LS3 over the LS2...

Why do they have to be approved of by the gov't??

Comes to mind. There is clearly some amount of direct feedback going on with Chrysler and the gub'ment (GM too, for instance the pushing for the new CEO).

No worries, I wasn't clear enough....just pretend I didn't ask. I'm afraid where it might lead the discussion.

Well maybe I sort of misread the big graph- but you'll see on the full presentation which I posted yesterday (as always Zeus, a day late and a dollar short -jk big guy) they show the following slide:

Name: picture-28.png
Views: 7294
Size: 91.0 KB

Which shows the 5.7 and a 6.4 for "beyond 2010"

It also shows the current engine line up:

Name: picture-27.png
Views: 7257
Size: 89.2 KB

Which shows everything from 1 of the 2.4s to the 4.7 V8 replaced by a single V6 model which will be primed for NA or FI applications.

Since these will be the only 8s "beyond 2010" and the slide show shows the development plan through 2014- I assumed that means the 5.7 will be in cycle until then. If they were going to dump the 5.7, now would be the time to do so. 13 engines currently reduced to 8- which makes sense.

And yet they continue to dilute their own product line
  • Chrysler small car (2013, supplied by Fiat)
  • Dodge small car (2013, supplied by Fiat)
  • Jeep small CUV (2013, supplied by Fiat, replaces Patriot and Compass)

Who wants to bet these are all the same damn car?

I hope Chysler makes it, but it looks bleak at this point.

I will keep my eye on the new Dodge Charger.....the 68/69 Charger was my favorite car....ever.

At this point, that's still a rumor. I think Ford is gonna do something similar to dodge, the 4.6 remaining in the gt, and the 5.0 in a model in between them and the gt500.

Th engine update is Ford's worst kept secret. Everyone knows about it. The only thing people are waiting on is rather it will be 400 or 425.

At the Sema show, Ford themselves tip their hand. They had a MY2011 Web design Mustang that had all of the styling cues for the 2011. Front splitter, rear diffuser, it seems they listen to the criticism about the 2010.
