I think it's probably due to the computer controlling the car. There have been times when I've pressed the gas pedal really fast, and for a split second, nothing happens. It seems to respond better if you ease into the throttle...not TOO slowly, but if you just stomp on it as fast as you can, results might not be the greatest. At least that's been my experience.

Vmax throttle body seems to help w/response, and the area between 2-3K rpm.

Wow...old thread. One thing you might want to look into is if you have a weak MAF sensor. This could be causing the issue.

Here's one thread that talks about it:

My car anticipates my every move and accelerates before I even press the gas.

I'm kidding. No noticeable lag here.

I have a new '12 LFX manual 6-speed and it does exactly the same thing. I don't really hear any noises like a 'dwop dwop' but there is a lag from idle.

I had an '06 Dodge Magnum with the 3.5 V-6 and there was absolutely NO lag on that one. I am assuming this is just the way it is with this engine and throttle body.

That thread is referring to the V-8 MAF sensors, totally different animal.

I owned a 2011 LS and now I have a 2012 1LT/RS. My impression is that the response from idle is definitely slower on the LFX but the"dead spot" from 2000-3000 rpm is definitely improved and the car seems stronger through the rpm band. I am still trying to figure out how to launch this thing vs my LLT. Bringing the RPM up to stall just seems to make it worse. I am sure the rotating mass of the RS wheels/tires doesn't help but I definitely think it has to do with the computer controlled drive by wire and torque management. Maybe this can be addressed with a custom tune.

I've seen it both ways, so I'm not sure who is right, but I have been told that the MAF issue affects V6s as well.

I just got my 2012 and was driving a 2010 before. Both were manual and I noticed this same thing you are describing on my 2012. There is definitely a lag/delay there that I didn't have in the 2010. My guess is that once you get more miles on it, it will go away or you just won't notice it anymore. I am hoping to get some mods done and see if it gets rid of it.

I haven't noticed this issue at all, I have a 2012 1LS also and I've never heard any noises like that.

The engine definitely likes revs. Try to keep it "on the boil" and it's more rewarding. I wouldn't necessarily say there's a lag, but it's pretty gutless down low.

BTW, I have pre-ordered a ported throttle body, so we'll see what that does...when I get it.

If the problem is in the computer can't it be tuned out?
