Well you see my small town has a population of 6,000 people and the closest track could about 1 hour away. the road we are racing on is 4 miles north of my house lol.

there is NO stock or lightly modded V6 Mustang out there that can beat a 4th gen V8, no matter whether auto or manual... the amount of dirver error would be outrageous for that to happen.

that said, the current V6 Mustang is a good matchup against the 4th gen V6... during the 2002 model year, a stock V6 Mustang would outrun a stock V6 Camaro... but then they came out with the new Mustang and things changed... as has been said before in this thread, the convertible top on that Mustang should give you the advantage.

good luck and race safely at the track if you can... dont get caught if you do it somewhere else.

Id say from reading all the posts and my own opinion, it will come down to a drive race but you should have an edge due to his convertible top adding a bit more weight...who knows it may come down to whos a lighter person :-P haha

Are you sure about that because i've driven both and a V6 mustang was way slower then the Camaro

You will take him, I raced a 97 GT mustang in my sisters 2002 stock V6 Camaro and spanked him 2 out of 2. And the 97GT will be around the same as the new 6 cyl rustang or slightly faster.
As far as racing on the street, It goes both ways in my opinion. If you have a track, go there, if not, dont do it where there is cross walks, or other vehicles. My view of street racing is different than others, If your weaving in and out of traffic racing like those rice burners do, then your stupid, if its a strait line race, with no one around, then the only person your hurting is yourself. Either way, be careful, but most importantly, KICK HIS A$$!!!

if you want a little insurance before your run be sure to leave your spare tire and jack at home, clean out the car, give it a nice wash so on so forth. dont fill up the gas tank before your run, try and keep it as light as possible and you should walk away from him. like people have said hes got more power but he is heavy, your just trying to make that advantage gap wider.

This is great advice. Make sure that you have everything in your favor before your run. Scout out the road to make sure there aren't any potholes or anything. You may even want to put up temporary fencing to prevent people from crossing the road.

As I've said before, roads are abandoned for several reasons. Abandoned roads usually enter a state of disrepair. Make sure there is plenty of light on the road and that you are safe. Winning the race isn't worth losing your life.
