Ok the ZL1 is 2.4 sec faster per lap than a car that's 400lbs lighter, has R-compound tires, an illegal front spliter for street use and no back seats!!!! SERIOUSLY GREAT JOB GM!!!! It's like someone at GM is telling Ford "Stick that up your pipe and smoke it!!!" LOL.

Good review, and I don't get how people can think motor trend hates GM. They made the Volt the COTY last year, against some very worthy competition. Motor Trend didn't like Old GM, and sales records show that they were pretty on the money with what the buying public thought.
MT really likes a lot of Chevy's new offerings. They even had the Sonic in the top 3 for the 2012 COTY |

For the Boss LS to cost $8k and 136hp less and only lose by 2 seconds is pretty amazing ! Install a Supercharger on the boss to make up for the 136 less horsepower and some wider tires to even things up and do the test again.... Then lets see who wins.

The Boss is a VERY respectable car but why did they have it in that test, because it was faster than the car that had a supercharger and wider tires on it.

Good point! Was the red key used in the boss? If not then I say we got problems. The boss did however lap the ls track in a 1.40 using the red key. Granted, different day different conditions but it was by motor trend

Can I just say this, for those of you who are Ford nuts, enjoy your vehicles. For those of us who are Chevy nuts, enjoy our cars. This petty competitive BS is really draining. Go drive and have fun, and if you happen to meet at a light, track, or road course get busy and then smile and shake hands and say "ain't this sh-- fun". I know this won't work because as a species we are to stubborn to just have fun without sayin mine is better than yours. Just like to put out that I will grin no matter what when I stall my ZL1 in the dealers lot just like I would if I stalled my new GT500. Preference is key, go enjoy what you have and tip beers at the end. But please enough already.

I like this war amongst ourselves. Why? Because the Germans right now just said " how in the hell did those two American muscle cars go around that track so fast?"

Well, as a current '12 Boss owner I knew my car's time at the top was limited. Glad to see Chevy respond so effectively. I, for one, think the upcoming GT500 will fall short. I'm looking forward to the next gen Mustangs which will hopefully have IRS. Till then, let's all enjoy our cars!

http://www.insideline.com/ford/musta...ng_fe_111.html Other than that, comparing reviews from a year ago on a car to a different car on the same track hold no water, especially with different drivers. Just look at the differences in lap times on Car and Driver's Lighting Laps from year to year with the same cars, up to 4 seconds difference, or in case of the 2011 GT500 to the 2010 GT500, 8 second difference around VIR.
