I've taken many a dashes out. Depending on what your going after, sometimes you really don't know what short cut you can and cannot get away with until you just do it. Try what you think might be your best shot, if doesn't work, try your second option. all else fail do what service manual tells you. Many a times I have been able to take short cuts over what service information recommends. Really taking the whole dash out isn't that bad. all your doing is taken the skin off. it's not like your taken the whole dash with compoents. I bag the screws and mark location they came out. but most of the time all the screws are same anyway 7mm screws on gm products. Take your time and don't force anything, because there is usually hidden screw or rosebud needs disconnecting. Use trim tools so as not to mare any plastic trim. service information is great for this. it will tell you were all the clips are and screws. looks like ofer will be finding out soon. I wish I could start now. but I just bought my car and little time left to drive it before winter storage. it will be a fun project

Does anyone have any instructions or pics of removing the dash? I'm quite close to wanting to do this but I want to make sure I can handle getting the dash in and out (since it's looking like that is needed).

I'll put together that powerpoint on dash removal. It's a bit more in depth than what patrickt posted.

Oh, we're here, we're just poor. :(
I'm ready to do mine, except I have no money to buy parts
If somebody wants to donate them, then I'll do a great DIY write-up!
