IMO they make the car a fake coupe.
idk, and i have never used them on the Ion, but on the RX8 they are still fairly useless, they do not open far enough, (silverado 170 degrees and still end up having to move the seat aleast a little.

They don't open enough for loading adults, but I bet they're fine for kids and groceries. My 2 door hatchback is annoying when I have to bend over into the hatch to load groceries onto the folded-down backseats.

I love the backdoors. They're perfect for loading cargo as they make it possible to avoid manipulating the seats in the process. Also, they make it easier for people to get in and out. My insurance company thinks i'm driving a 2 cylinder 4 door car :-) |

The V-6 Camaro will be the better value and will offer probably 85% of what you can get in the RX8. The rear doors do come in very handy, making it much easier to get in the back compared to a standard coupe. A rotary car like the RX8 is a very different driving experience. The engine is very small and mounted very low so there is a low center of gravity and polar movement.
The steering, brakes and handling are phenomenal. Once you get going you can carry great speed through corners. The main issue the RX8 has always had is power and torque. All the power is between 5,500 and 8,500 RPM. I never had a big issue with MPG, averaged 19 or 19.5. Although I bet in the V-6 Camaro I’d average 25 MPG on the same route so big savings there. If I were buying today between the RX8 and the V-6 Camaro I’d probably buy the Camaro (of course the RX8 is mechanically the same since it debuted in 2003). It’s a good car but there are better options out now. I do miss mine a little. |

The new R3 is sweeeeeeeeeeeet. Love that 9000rpm redline screaming as your sliding around a corner.

A tick over 13.0 sec. and you're through the quarter-mile. It's a rush, of course, but not overly dramatic. Try the same thing with this pair's predecessors of 1970 or so and you'll find yourself in a bit of a wrestling match. Ain't progress wonderful? Maybe yes, and maybe sometimes it's fun to wrestle."
