Finally decided, cancelled my 2SS/RS order today... :( - Camaro5 Chevy Camaro Forum / Camaro ZL1, SS and V6 Forums

I absolutely LOVE the exterior styling and the performance/handling potential of the new Camaro. But, after seeing the preproduction IBM Camaro at the Dearborn dealership, seeing the production ready interior (twice) at the Detroit Auto Show, and the production date being moved back to mid-March along with 50/50 V8/V6 production off the line, I just can't do it.

I stopped by my dealership today and told him that I wanted to cancel my order and my reasons for it.. He said "No problem, I understand." I have to call him in the morning to find out when my $1000 deposit will be ready for either pickup or to be mailed.

I am actually going to be starting a new job at an Infiniti dealership next month. I will consider the G37S Coupe (I had a 2003 G35 Coupe). Also, the dealer owns a Nissan and Chevrolet Dealership, so I will also look at the 370Z and keep my eye on the Camaro (if I hear any news through Camaro5) and also consider a 'Vette.

I will still be lurking around here and occasionally posting on the threads.

It's sad that you cancelled your order. I don't understand how a production delay affected your decision. You'd still be waiting at least a couple of months from production to get your car, so the fact that you have to wait one more shouldn't have made a difference. At least put some additional consideration toward the Corvette because that money stays at home.

I don't like the interior either. It's way too nice for the cost, and the materials aren't crappy enough. If I'm going to spend $31k on a V8, I expect the materials to be cheap. And don't get me started on the performance! The horsepower is way too much for an acceptable car at this price range. If it costs this little, there should be a horsepower cap way lower than 400. It's way too fast, and it's way too nice. This car is unacceptable!

i think he would just get a better deal at Infiniti dealership since he is going to be working for them. Too bad you had to cancel your order.

370Z and Infiniti are hardly "rice". Does a mullet come with your Camaro? Didn't think so.

I hate to say this but you are right in your decision, the car is over blown by a few people acting nuts and driving the price of the car up.. GM has lost market share over the years in sales that they will never recover. The electric revolution is taking over and there is no stopping it. CAFE will decide the fate of this car next year when they hit it with a gas tax that the consumer will have to eat to get an SS. GM just can not launch a vehicle like they are supposed to. All this HYPE from a few like it is the only HARLEY_DAVIDSON at the dealership that 18 guys are fighting over. To be honest all that is out there now this car is not worth the price. Fuel economy, bells, and whistles you have to pay extra for , it just is not worth it. Resale in 6 months, you will be lucky to get 55% back out of the car..
