No. It's not. Zeta is a "Global RWD" platform...but it was implemented to be profitable in Austrailia alone, as I understand it. Australia has no ties to the US CAFE requirements...so more Zeta cars in Noth America aren't very likely. But Zeta as a whole is just fine right now. It's certainly not 'flourishing', but that's about it........

They might be able to produce the G8 in Oshawa if they wanted to, rather than importing them from Austrailia. As for those other cars being moved, that was done because of other promises that were made. The bottom line is that there just arent many rear drive cars made by GM, and most already have a home. So I don't think that there is an easy way out, unless GM figures out a loophole for CAFE that would allow them to build a large rearwheel drive sedan for the mass market.

especially since GM and the Can. Fed. Gov't have invested something like $2 billion in the Oshawa plant over the past year...it'd be a waste.

Since Oshawa will have a flex line, might they be able to build Alpha there? However, that means a ton of low-volume models (Pontiac Alpha, Caddy Alpha, Solstice, and Sky) so that might be difficult. Building the G8 there could save on shipping, but would that be enough savings to make up for the savings lost by not building it alongside its sister cars? I can't imagine a plant this important building just one model. The Camaro will be relatively high volume, but not high enough to justify being the only model built there.
