The most important part of the 5th Gen is style, and bang for buck. With the new SS, you just get alittle more bang for more buck.

+1.
personally, I don't think 150+ in any Camaro would be too much fun.

I do not think you get these on the 1SS:
  • Boston Acoustics® premium 9-speaker 245 watt audio system
  • Bluetooth® for phone, personal cell phone connectivity to vehicle audio system
  • Driver Information Center compass
  • Four-pack gauges mounted on center console: oil pressure, battery voltage, oil temperature and transmission fluid temperature
  • Inside auto-dimming rearview mirror
  • Body-color power-adjustable heated mirrors (auto dimming on driver side)
  • Wireless PDIM (for use of steering-wheel controls with auxiliary device)
  • Rear park assist sensors are standard
  • Remote vehicle starter system (with automatic transmission)
  • Heated driver and front passenger seats
  • Leather-appointed front seat trim
  • Leather-wrapped shift knob
  • Three-spoke leather-wrapped steering wheel
  • Steering-wheel-mounted audio controls
  • Universal Home Remote
  • USB port
  • And almost for got HUD (heads up display)
I really like this stuff!!
I waited until I could buy a 2SS.

The most useful things on this list are the USB port (absolute must on all future cars now that I have it) and the rear parking assist (rear visibility on the Camaro is non-existent).

The gages are fun, and help me to avoid gunning it until the oil is warm.

No HUD on my 2010.

YES! That was the whole point. All these arguments like the V6 is slow, it's not a real Camaro, it shouldn't look fast are pure I'm making a silly argument in response to silly areguments! Some got it, but you evidently didn't!

Don't think he meant it off the line, nobody is saying V6 will beat V8 in a race. In most cases it will be from cruising and reaching top speed a few seconds later is no big deal.

All I am saying is it's all up to the driver and the differences aren't as much as some seem to claim. You want a fully loaded Camaro or a frame of one with a huge engine it's up to you, just know what your actually getting.

Exactly. Most of the people who own Camaros can't/won't ever drive them to their potential. It doesn't matter which engine they have, they can't/won't. Want to see the ones that can/do then go look at the fast lists in the drag section. How many of them are here ragging on the V6? Somebody that knows how to race can take the V6 Camaro and beat most of the folks who drive the V8 in 1/8 and probably the 1/4 mile. Does that make the V6 faster? No, it means they know how to race. If you aren't racing your Camaro, then why worry about V6/V8? Personal preference is the only thing that really makes sense to me. Some like the rumble and quick power the bigger engine makes. MORE POWER TO THEM (pun intended)! Other would rather spend the extra money on things like leather, HUD (not a luxury item by the way), and heated seats. MORE COMFORT TO THEM! Others like the challenge of making the V6 run like a banshee. MORE JOY TO THEM!

Pretty much sums it up. It would be boring as hell if they only made one trim level in one color with one transmission option. Buy what you want and drive the hell out of it

Because this topic is likely to come up again, it is possible to have the best of both worlds (http://camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=117591; even made the homepage of this site today). Makes sense for lot's of people to go this route. You only need the power on the track, the rest of the time it's nice to have a quick car that get's good gas milage and is comfortable. Other's may not care too much for that, but some do.

And here are the threads with the Stock 1/4 mile #'s:

V8 12.58 @ 110.30 MPH
http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=21013
and
V6 14.408 @ 94.24 MPH
http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=61392

No need to argue.
