Another Homemade Vararam Radiator Support

Decided last night to take a stab at my own version of a radiator support that will hold the radiator in place. Came up with these...... I made them out of the 1.5 inch flat aluminum stock you can get at any Home Depot or Lowe's. Once made, I polished them up. Used a piece of thin cardboard to mock up the bends/shape. Notice the sizes are different since the Vararam does not center perfectly over the radiator.

View at another angle.....

Here's everything I used for the support. The long bolts that cam with the Vararam. The homemade supports. Two aluminum turnbuckles from a local ACE Hardware. $4.00 each. These come with an eye bolts at one of the ends in the store. Of course, I polished those up as well.

Here are two pics of the whole thing put together. I forked part of the homemade support slips into a bolt on the back of the radiator. The long bolts from Vararam slide thru the turnbuckle and into the stock hole in the front grille. When you tighten the Vararam bolt, it pinches the turnbuckle to the front grille frame. Radiator is rock solid.

Here is mine. http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showth...ght=plasti-dip It's very minimalist but holds the VR in place which holds the radiator snug, but allows some tolerance for engine movement without binding.

Yours is way cooler and the thought process and execution excellent.

Nice job! Looks great. I'm using simple L brackets and they have done a very nice job holding it in place. I love all these creative ideas people have.
