Well 3 months later and my 2nd heater core went bad 2 weeks ago after only 3 months and 8k miles. IM PISSED. Not taking it back to the same dealer, Chevy Customer care is jerking me around about paying for my rental, car MAY be done this week sometime. You know I didn't buy a NEW car for this crap. I love my car but this schitt has to stop. Im at 42k miles and going on 3rd heater core on my 2012 this is definitely some kind of manufacturing defect and I haven't hit them up about replacing the carpet too, they are going to freak when I talk to them tomorrow. Ready for another car.

That really sucks, man. There are lemon laws in effect for this type of thing. You might look into it.

I've had my 2011 LT for over a year now and so far nothing has really gone wrong, but I was thinking of trading for a 2013 SS. Reading all this crap about the heater core makes me really hesitant to do that.

My baby is at the dealer right now getting the heater core replaced. Same symptoms as described by everyone else, smelled like maple syrup, windshield fogging up, hot drips on the passengers feet. Service manager was not happy, he knows it's a huge job. We'll see how it turns out.

Yep my 2010's just went out at 38,500 miles. Come on Chevy there is obviously a problem here, one that is going to cost me $1500. And we wonder why US cars get a bad rap! :

Oh and so far I have had to had the spoiler tightened, the chevy stickers came off the door jams, replace and coming off again, the throttle body had to be replaced within 30 days of delivery, and the problem with the AC and the gurgling noise!

Well quick update.

Took the car to Bruns Chevy in Rock Hill SC for the repair. They called this am to say they also noticed a tear in the dash pad but after talking to Chevy they will take care if it under warranty!

So major kudos to Burns Chevy and especially to David Stone in their service department!

So it is on a case by case basis as to them covering the repair.

Well 2K in repairs later, on the way home an O2 sensor magically went out, I am really thinking about trading this car in.

Car only has 38K miles on it and now having major problems....

I think they only did the dash pad for "free" is because my wife I told them how disappointed we were about the heater core and they wanted to get a 5 on magical question number 16 on the customer survey. I mean they already had the dash out and got 2K out of me!

I've surprised and disapponted with such a lot of problems with heater core. Strange that the mechanics here in Turkey succeeded to take out the core without windshield replacement in my 2011 2LT. To import a new windshield from US would cause a huge cost. Also I decided to order a new heater core (custom build) exactly the same of the original one instead of a replacement part. This would be very durable and long lasting I believe. Because I am 100% sure that the same problem would occur again with these Chinese small radiators. I think I cant afford once again once seen the hard work done to take out the dash.

Do you know what the mechanics did? they must have cut something to get the core out.

told that while cutting 1 cm of the 2 ea bolts around 10 cms in length which prevents the dash to take out. those bolts have an excessive length that is unneccessary.
