"There is no requirement to post octane on an E85 dispenser. engine tests."If a retailer chooses to post octane, they should be aware that the often cited 105 octane is incorrect. This number was derived by using ethanol’s blending octane value in gasoline. This is not the proper way to calculate the octane of E85. Ethanol’s true octane value should be used to calculate E85’s octane value. This results in an octane range of 94-96 (R+M)/ 2. These calculations have been confirmed by actual octane http://ethanolrfa.3cdn.net/dd9e74ce1..._rbm6bdgh3.pdf |

I asked that on page 1. All specs are for a 3.0. Wanted to know if this is just a math equation to come up with these numbers, or is the 3.6 in prototype.

i know the 3.6 gm is using now is a high compression engine that doesn't require high octane fuel due to it being direct injection allows it to run on the cheap stuff. i see the new engine is also direct injection also. the high compression is helping it make the power with 89 octane

Do Camaros run on E85
do the 2010/2011 Camaro SSs run on E85? If they do, can you not just tune them to run more effectively for E85?

V8s, and especially V6s will not be going anywhere for some many decades to come...There's no foundation for those kind of foreboding statements. Become less common? Maybe. But certainly not disappear. Also...General Motors 'farms' out MANY parts and services to different parts of the world. Warner, who actually makes the Tremec unit in Mexico...possibly didn't make a transmission to spec for the V6 application. It probably has little to do with the accountants, since that philosophy is largely behind the company. Oh....and by the way, that Aisin transmission is also used in the Cadillac CTS. Quote:

No, they aren't equipped from the factory with the necessary hoses and sensors to run E85. |

Idk remember if this was asked or not, but is this supposed to replace the LLT or just be another option?

We're thinking it's a replacement.

HP is nice but what happened to the torque?

It may not change much, using the same math. Torque is a real measure of an engine's output...hp is a measure of power that's more fun to reference, though.
There's still a ton that's unknown about this engine...we'll have to wait and see what they do with it. |

yeah, I guess so. I'm still happy with what I've got. For now.
