What you got and what style do you play?

I've got a PRS 513 Rosewood, Marshall 8100 halfstack with a 4x10 cab, a Digitech Whammy pedal and a Rocktron Prophecy FX unit with MidiMate controller..

Also have an Ovation Celebrity, B.C Rich Warlock.. plus an old beat up Les Paul copy.

I like to play Rock / Metal / Blues / Funk... and i'm mostly playing Clutch at the moment although... AC/DC, Hendrix, Rage Against the Machine and Killswitch Engage tend to creep in a bit!!

Funny you should ask....i just got a guitar like 2 weeks ago... its a beginner one to learn on.... Yamaha Pacifica. I was trying to teach myself from the net to get somewhat of an idea of how to play, lol... I suck... gained a new respect for people that play any instruments. Too bad I didn't learn anything when I was a kid.

BTW....Other than taking guitar lessons from someone... what do you think is a good way to learn the guitar? Anything I can buy, etc? I have a month off coming up and I'm not going anywhere on travel.. So I would love to spend a good chunk trying to tackle the guitar! Also I like bands like AC/DC, Audioslave, Nickelback.. so I wanna learn how to play there music.... although I'm sure its gunna take years before i get there. Any suggestions?

I bought myself a Ibanez bass for my birthday this year, so i could start to learn to play. But with school and life I havent had a chance to get much time with it. Mostly Im into the bluesy rock kinda stuff.. dire straits, snowy white, gov't mule, ect..

I'm not much of a guitarist, but I do have BC Rich (yellow) signed by the man himself , you guessed it, Satch. I use Roland GP-100, MessaBoogie, Marshall rack amp, bad horsie, and some other toys...

I took lessons for 7 years. I got pretty good at classical way back when. When I began being taught chords is about the time I stopped taking the lessons. I got into band back in middle/high school....played the trombone. Yup. We had a b@d@ss marching band and always brought home the 1st place trophies.

I can still play trombone...am ok at the guitar...can play a few riffs on the piano...and that about sums it up. Still have the acoustic guitar (signed by Robert Earl Keen and Willie Nelson). Sold off the trombone after high school (mom needed the cash-wish we never would have gotten rid of it).

Yamaha Pacifica is a good start...
1st thing is to get comfy with your instrument (Giggity)... there are alot of books around.. go to your local music shop and ask them what book they recommend for a beginner (don't worry they won't laugh).. if i was you i'd get to grips with Chords first and practice changing between them, then on to scales... once you've got those down you'll be laughing.
Alot of the learning materials will be TAB based... this is really simple to learn.... just remember to take small bits and practice them alot and you'll progress quickly.

I mostly play blues and rock, but have been known to sit down and play some old folk and bluegrass with my Dad and some coworkers who are pickers, as well
