Blower for 140-150mph is just going to be there for the ride. Once you get to speed, you won't have enough throttle to even make boost to maintain that speed. Bypass valve will be open, and you'll just be hauling it around.

I thought about doing the heads, cam etc and would get 100 HP, but im wanting to retain the reliability that comes from these cars. I mean certainly a ZL1 could run this class without even breathing hard, at least that's what i thought.
I'll say it again - gear ratios. Either put more or less rear gear in the car to get the RPMs to a more desirable point in either 5th or 6th gear. 3.91's should put you at 3850rpm in 6th at 150mph - the car should have enough power at that RPM to sustain that speed, if you get a big hill, you drop a gear. 4.10's would put you just over 4000rpm if you need a little margin. Much cheaper than boost.

Thanks, that is a good idea but i love the 3.91's and dont want to change the gears. Maybe i will just stay in the 145 class, the car does just fine in that class.

Ugh - forgot it's a 1LE. MM6 makes this a totally different battle.

Yeah what a shame, and for just 5 miles an hour. I know i could run the 150 class just as i am, but not wanting to run that hard in 5th. Thats why i thought a supercharger would be the trick, but apparently it's a little more involved.

You aren't sacrificing reliability with a different cam as long as you stay within the tolerances and upgrade the other components while in there (trunions, etc). For the 5mph bump that's what I'd do, FI as stated above is just gonna help get you there. You'll be to tall in 6th to make use of anything left at the lower RPM.

As long as your oil temps are under control, I don't see the issue with running at 5300 rpm in fifth?

It is potentially less stress on bearings at that rpm compared to a lower rpm.

If it takes x amount of power to move your car at 150mph for one minute; each stroke is generating x/5300. If you are at 3800 rpm it is taking x/3800.

Higher rpm but less stress with each firing of the engine.

Run a Road Racing oil, and keep oil temps under control and run it as is.

Because of this thread and this place, i was able to make my decision on what will work to give me the power to run this class. I am going with headers, a cam, throttle body and a tune from Jordan (JDP) Thank you all for your input and help.

....and on a personal note, speed is something i truly enjoy and i get to run 165 (top speed limit for that class) miles an hour legally on a closed sanctioned public hwy....oh hell yeah!!
