I've heard of conditional love but that is an outragous amount for a rock. But if you have the cash then have fun spending it. On the other hand I don't understand why you are letting her tell you what to do with YOUR 94Z. That is just wrong!!

Good Luck

well, the main thing is lately we have been saving extra for an LA trip for her birthday next week. that "extra" is from my Project Mayhem fund. I've been puttin about $1000.00 per paycheck (2 a month) away for this trip for a bit now, but I had to get new rear tires the week before last and she wasnt happy seeing as how they cost $600.00 for just 2. so i ended up not putting any money away that pay period. she's not happy about that.

as far as the price of the rock, im not paying that much for one, (tho it would mean she would pay for the Maro) but im looking around 12k for her ring in about a year or so. (just dont tell her)

I only mean...that at 19/20...and no girlfriend (at the moment), by the time I find "her" and get married. It'll be REAL close to the time when I'd be able to afford the Camaro I want. By then, it'll be money on honeymoon, wedding, house. Then after I finally Re-earn the money to get a new one... a kid might appear. That'll screw ANY chance at a Camaro.

I can't put a Car in front of Love, or family, no matter how much I want it. That's not right. So I'll get it before-hand...and possibly extend the the wedding wait a few months...if she'll understand...

I'm thinking WAY too much into this...

Well I found the girl, 7 years on new years, and she's getting impatient, but there's a ton of speedblocks in the way of proposal. I'm basically in between a rock and a car place at the moment. (let's see how many people get that)

I knew years ago that I was going to be doing the right thing by letting my wife get the car with all the bells and whistles...I mean c'mon...butt warmer in south TEXAS???

Before she got what she wanted, we made a deal. I let her get what she wants and she doesn't complain about what I want and all the "bells and whistles" that I'm going to get with it. She was cool with that and she got her loaded Sorento. Now...it's my turn.

The problem is she constantly confronts me with "you're saving all this money for your stupid car, and you aren't putting any money away for my ring.

I have a seperate account that I put a specific amount from my savings/spending money into specifically for my car. She doesn't sseem to realize that I have the account that the car fund money comes from as a savings account.

Well I would have already had my ring if my boyfriend hadn't got into a financial bind, and I understand that. He was driving a Peterbilt and the guy he had been working for quit paying him. But when John asked about where his money was he would always tell him "oh it's in the mail...it's on it's way...etc." so John would pick up another load and take it. Turns out he ran the company $90,000 in debt in 4 months! So the company had to shut down. During the time that John wasn't getting paid, he was having to run off his own money to pay for fuel and other things. When he finally figured out the guy was screwing him and parked the truck and told him he wasn't moving until he got some money, it was pretty much too late. He had $13,000 in his checking account when he started working for the guy and after 4 months he was left with pretty much nothing.

The man that owns the company is trying to figure out a way to pay John back for the money that is owed to him. So John has his own authority and Danny (the guy who owned the company) is going to cut him a deal on a 2001 Peterbilt and a 2002 Freightliner he has. All John has to do is find 3 drivers to put in the trucks (including his) and Danny is getting him three cattle trailers. Once he gets some money coming in he thinks he wants to buy a dump truck ($50 an hour, I said 'hell yeah!') lol

I was told at New Years that he wanted to get me a ring, and of course I got all excited. He asked my mom and dad for their permission and everything, which I thought was really sweet seeing as how nobody does that anymore and I really didn't expect him to! lol But then in February everything went to the sh!tter...

So I understand that he doesn't exactly have the expendable money right now to buy me one. But atleast I know that I WILL get one!

And atleast that asshole (or should I say asshat? lol) that ran the company in the ground and wouldn't pay John is in prison now

Sorry... I know that was

^Woah! Lol..prison? Just out of curiosity, do you know what the guy was ever charged with? Serves the guy right if he intentionally and knowingly screwed everyone. At least the owner is trying to make right with ya'll.

Give it some time and you'll get your ring. Hopefully it'll be something ya'll have picked out, but if not...you can always upgrade! That was something I told my wife when I bought her the princess cut diamond ring. She said she didn't want an upgrade...now or never. It was too sentimental for her. Of course, I said, "Cool!" I'm just happy I was able to get the diamond I did.

And...I think it's time to move some posts here to get back on topic........

Some people spend $24K+ for some desinger name and all you are going to buy is a Camaro??

I dont remember what exactly it was that he was charged with... I'll ask John when I talk to him. We just knew that the guy that owned the company took him to court and finally got him sent to prison for a little while. It just sucks that John spent all his money from his account, plus had to get a credit card for fuel costs. But once he gets back on his feet he should be doing good!

I know I'll get it soon, but I want it NOW haha! I'm excited! But then again I don't want to be engaged forever either, I'll get antsy! haha

Yeah I thought about just posting all those under this thread but then I figured that everybody would be thinking "Where the heck did that come from?!?" lol

I know we need to get "back on topic" , but I've got a question for you "experienced" folks. Would you say that 4-5 years of dating/engagement is too long of a time before the marriage? I'm just curious on what everybodys opinions are. Like I said, I don't have a girlfriend at the moment, so it really doesn't effect me one way or the other...I'm just curious.
